They should all play center IMO. Novak as well. Crosby, new guy, Malkin, Novak. Start building up the depth up front.

I really don't want to see those 2 scoring lines, 2 checking lines nonsense anymore.
Put Malkin at wing. He's on his way out, would benefit from the reduced defensive responsibilities. Let him play with sid. But after that yes, run Crosby, New Guy, Novak, Broz at C 1-4.

For anyone thinking teams will be paying to dump deals this off-season, I think this pours some cold water on that idea. I know it’s Barry Trotz and he’s stupid, but Haula is a declining 34 year old making over $3 million a year. If a team is paying positive value for that, I don’t think there will be much of a market to get 2nds and 3rds for guys like Hayes and Glass.

That said, this also makes me feel like you can get something for Hayes and Acciari right now, even if it’s just a late round pick.

WTF is Trotz even trying to accomplish?

I didn't look him up but lets see how close I am... he went to some country with extremely strict laws and did something like take a dump on a national monument and then acted like his rights were being violated when he was inevitably arrested.
No idea. Have no clue who he is or what he did beyond the fact that he's a reaction bait youtuber and I stand by what I said.

Trotz could get a haul for ROR on this shit center market but instead treats him like royalty. Dude has no trade protection but still gets asked if and where he would want to go

a little of column A, a little of column B... I think they'll be fine with him as the 2C next year if Bennett doesn't come back
To be frank I think my pushback is because it’s a misuse of PDO to use it to judge guys on good teams in short samples. We shouldn’t think less of them because they and their teammates finished their chances and their goalie stopped the puck.

Like Florida just showed they were the best team in the league and went 16-7 in the playoffs. Of course their best line had a high SH% and SV% when they were out there in a small 23 game sample.

I think it's reasonable in this case since the tweet you posted is highlighting his goal differential and 5v5 production, both of which are massively impacted by a 17% on-ice shooting percentage.

That doesn't mean I think he stinks or that the Cats' Cup wasn't legit or whatever, just that if we're projecting outwards and assessing him as a player we do have to keep these things in mind. But that's not really relevant to the Penguins eh

Slightly different circumstances as Haula is a good player coming off a down year but could still be impactful if he bounces back. Not quite the same as trading for a guy that's been bad for a while coming from a team in a cap crunch like Dumba in Dallas.

im saying that the SH% is a result of his and his linemates unreal play rather than being a knock against them.

which given the eye test and sample size feels like a pretty reasonable take

A 17% on-ice shooting percentage is never the sustainable result of play. That's the highest by far in the 2007-08 onwards era in the postseason. We have more detailed scoring chance data from them that paints a pretty clear picture.
