Yohe obviously has no connections to the team at this point so I don’t even see a purpose in sharing his “reporting”.

The Penguins situation is obvious: they’re selling with Rakell, Rust and Karlsson as the main trade chips, but they probably will only trade 1 or 2 of those guys and will be looking for young NHL talent to replace them.

Literally every indication given publicly by the GM or by looking at who and how he has proceeded to move assets recently....

Looking at that and determining that there will be zero substantive trades is certainly a take regardless of what you are 'hearing'

It’s also batshit crazy to put Ryan Shea of all players in the “likely not going anywhere” territory as if Dubas wouldn’t ship him off the millisecond the Penguins get offered something decent for him.

Two years ago he was also 36, and players regularly fall off dramatically in their late 30s.

Like I said, this place is completely bizarre when it comes to Malkin. Any sort of suggestion that Malkin has fallen off makes people insanely touchy and they’ll blame anything but the obvious, that players start declining in their late 30s. And there’s nothing wrong with that and it isn’t a criticism on Malkin.

I don't think anyone is denying Malkin has fallen off.

Just that he is still an NHL player, should be re-signed if he wants to continue playing, and he'll have no real consequence on the team being bad given we literally have 0 center prospects in the system.

Definitely agree to this. If the reports are true (I am having a hard time believing Dubas told Malkin he doesnt want him back) and the pens are not offering him a contract passed this year, it has to be because he told them this will be his last year and that somehow got leaked to a source close to them.

So, according to Yohe, no one is going to be traded lol…hint: only 2nd round picks or lower…that would be an awful offseason for Dubas…sorry

I can’t believe this guy gets paid to do this. That’s some of the most trite analysis I’ve ever seen. There’s nothing new here at all.

As expected, the reports about Malkin and his tenure with Pittsburgh are inaccurate. Doesnt mean that this wont be his last year but Yohe needs to get better sources. Trying to make pens management seem like they are forcing a player out (regardless of who or what team) is never a good look

Kingerski doesn’t know shit either. Only way we’ll truly know what’s happening is if a national person reports it.

Can you imagine how badly these goofs miss the JR era?

Even if he didn't like them that guy would kick back with a container of Chang's and spill the entire next two seasons of front office plans to any of them that asked. Now they are literally just making shit up and attaching nebulous and never-specified "sources."

While I don't think Yohe has any legit sources to hear anything from, he could still stumble into being right about the Pens not trading anyone significant this offseason. At least from what I've seen, the national guys are saying teams are calling (particularly about Rust), but that doesn't mean the Pens are willing to sell.

It makes sense teams are calling given the Pens current situation, but the Pens have time on their side. If they don't get what they want, they can keep all of Rakell, Rust, and Karlsson and wait for something better during the season.

I'm like 50/50 on whether I expect them to sell even 1 of Rust, Rakell, or Karlsson prior to the season starting.

The Pens should 100% be in on Isaac Howard. Perhaps Tampa would be interested in something involving Rust or Rakell?

Just like the trade deadline, Dubas wanted a king's ransom for Rakell and rightfully so he should do the same with Rust and Rakell. Just like you said, he has time. He is not forced to get rid of them. Karlsson I could see more than anything because because he sucks a defense so if they get a somewhat decent return I think you got to pull the trigger on that one.

If this team shambles into next season with Rust, Raks AND EK65 all on the roster then I have to wonder WTF they are doing, here.
I think that would indicate the market is a lot lower on these players than what we hope to get.

It sounds like EK65 will almost certainly be done.

Waiting for teams to get desperate enough to meet the asking price.

I feel like their value is about as good as it gets.

I totally get that POV but I feel it's risky at this stage in everyone's career. Rust and Raks are years into their 30s, now. They were both inconsistent even in their primes, I want to say Rak's shooting percentage was crazy high last season and we all know about Rust's never-ending injury issues.

If they are getting calls on these guys and the value is close I would just pull the trigger. The can has been kicked down the road long enough.

Wouldn't they need to send some salary back? I don't really see Rust/Rakell being enough (if any at all) of an upgrade on anyone in their top 6 to bother shuffling the money around to make it work.

Only thing I can think of is like July 3rd when teams miss out on any FAs they might pony up the price to get a decent consolation prize on a manageable contract.

I'm just saying, people on here are acting like it's a forgone conclusion they are going to get traded during the offseason. A scenario where none of them get traded is very easy to see, though.

Pens : We want a 1st.
Other team : We'll give you a 2nd and a meh prospect.
Pens : We'll wait.
