Dubas tried to win in year 1. His big three moves were Karlsson, Jarry and Graves. Oh and Reilly Smith. All failed. Then they pivoted to the rebuild with the Guentzel trade.Frankly - if that actually was their concern it's all a bit sad.
Placating Sid involved missing the playoffs for three straight years and not flipping Guentzel for a more roster ready piece, earlier? Going in on names like Hayes and not Tarasenko? I don't think placating Sid is at all what has gone on here. And if so - the Jarry/Graves moves....then my goodness.
In year 2 they took a much more half-hearted approach, but ended with trading Pettersson.
Then they really ripped the bandaid off and fired Sullivan.
The rebuild is happening all around Sid at this point. Happy/unhappy, who cares. They got him extended and now they can do what they want.
