Salary Cap: 24 25 Salary Thread Crosbicles Volume Mmxxvii Retool over Time to Go for A Cup in 2026

We don't know that. The Rangers are primarily focused on making their team better, and an unprotected 2026 1st likely has more trade value than the #10 pick in 2025.

The same reason so many fans here want it to slip to 2026 (shot at McKenna) is why the Rangers would probably prefer to keep that pick and use it somewhere else.
Agree to disagree, if they traded a 10th OA pick and they failed that miserably on the season, Drury would be tarred and feathered. Not a chance they give up that pick at 10th OA, hell no!

Do you? Have you seen how maniacal Sullivan wants to win meaningless games?

If there's a good 10, we'll finish 11th. If there's a fantastic to five, we'll finish 6th.

Top eight this year... pfffffffff Sullivan has this team in ninth!

This is not hyperbole, this is what he does. Him and that poor excuse for a goalie he insists on trotting out there now, to f*** us up!

THEY'RE SICK! SINCERELY SICK VILE INDIVIDUALS!
Lol I mean regardless of what Sullivan wants our roster this year is gonna finish close to bottom 5. And Sid and Malkin will be a year older next year. And as much as I like Koivunen and McGroarty they aren't pulling us out of the basement in their rookie years.

Like I said the only way it happens are unexpected trades and signings by Dubas or our goaltending being randomly good. Otherwise....good luck.

I hope you're right. I worry they will "lose with dignity" and be drafting in the 6-16 range again.
Thing is even the totally awful teams like Chicago and San Jose figure to take steps forward some time just because they are young.

We are so old we most likely have nowhere to go but down

I think this year we'll be at best 7th OA, We're not sniffing bottom five. In fact we could be closer to 10TH OA, let's hope not. But our fat pig of a coach doesn't care we could garner a core piece for the future, they wanna COMPETE!

Did they compete when they lost to UTAH 6-1? NO! How about when SJ beat em? NO? But lets do it now! And f*** our fans! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Let’s offer sheet York. Current salary 1.6m. Getting scratched on occasion and probably wants out, for good reason. 2 years $2.25m and we only have to give up a 3rd. Gives him a couple years to rebuild his value and cash in on a larger deal later. Virtually guaranteed a top pairing spot here.

Not really a question of can Philly match, but rather will they want to.

Also, TBF, Schenn basically told Dubas "the f*** I will" when told he was coming to the pens. So, cool Dubas got value for him because it was a stupid transaction to make without the player wanting to be here.
It is awesome that people think Dubas is some kind of wizard who was thinking 3 steps ahead trading for Schenn to flip for assets when in reality his goal was to trade Bunting for an even somehow dumber contract and was only bailed out of a stupid move by Schenn’s desire to not play for this dumpster fire.

I will give Kyle credit, he has mastered the art of failing upwards.

Really depends on what Dubas does this offseason. If the young guys are in the lineup, we keep Raks and Ek and maybe an actual good player in UFA and we’ll be a bubble team again if Sid stays healthy. If we trade raks and ek we’ll be in contention for worst in the league. San Jose and Chicago will definitely improve next year.
Im pretty convinced we're going to do the former, but we'll see. If we trade Raks and EK, here's betting we don't just stand pat but replace them in free agency. Marner (the dream), Ehlers, Boeser in UFA or trading for a guy like Peterka with the assets we acquired would offset Rakell, and then maybe you sign Ekblad, Provorov, Gavrikov etc on D. Net even in talent but you've gotten younger and probably added assets. Seems to be the Dubas plan.

IMO he hasn’t committed to retooling, but yeah we’ll have to see. I’m hoping he trades them for 1sts + prospects and replaces them with the Kevin Hayes and buntings of the world so we can tank for McKenna. I’ll be very disappointed if we improve in free agency without dumping sully.

What sucks about the lottery is it's not just a chance of us winning or losing it. We could also get f***ed and move down in the order if somebody behind us wins the lottery and moves up. So right now we're 8th but for example if the Islanders won the lottery we'd be picking 9th as everyone above us would move down a slot thus pushing us down a slot.

Not all that likely though as the chance of someone behind us winning the lottery is pretty slim.

So unsmart that he flipped him for a 2nd and a 4th.

Bunting for Novak, 2nd, 4th. What a dummy.

Be objective.

You ask for reality. I gave you it.

Dubas wanted to keep Schenn. Schenn said no.

Call out people for bad decisions. Respect them for good decisions.

The end result of the Bunting trade was solid.

Acquiring Bunting for nothing worthwhile in a Guentzel trade was not. Acting like Bunting was a good NHLer like most of y’all did because of a hot 10-15 games was not. Acquiring Luke Schenn and thinking he was a locker room guy we should keep was not.

I say that as a big fan of Luke Schenn that has wanted him as a player here.

I think it was Warren Buffet who said you shouldn't buy stocks in a company if you wouldn't feel comfortable keeping it for years.

You can acquire somebody with contingency plans. Obviously Dubas was more than happy to move him for a 2nd, so its hard to imagine he didn't gauge the market beforehand but just assumed Schenn would want to be here without any backup plan.

Yeah, but do other teams have Uncle Gary on their side? I don't think so.
