McGroarty is not going to be on the top line with Sid. That line isn't changing.
He's literally on L1 with Crosby right now.

From Yohe’s story on Koivunen and McG lol…in case you need another reminder to drink heavily:
“Rust gets it. So does Rakell. And no one gets it more than Crosby.
Those three fully intend on being in Pittsburgh when the Penguins return to glory. So does coach Mike Sullivan.”

Rutger McGroarty, Ville Koivunen fitting right in as Penguins embrace youth movement
The arrival and development of Pittsburgh's two prospects is a big deal — for now and the future.www.nytimes.com
Hes got everything he needs to be a solid 3rd liner. Watched him last year live in Calgary and he was a motor out there. We do need to clean up the junk in the bottom 6 and defense though.Don't see where Poulin fits TBH. He's not going top 6, but I'm pretty sure McGroarty and Koivunen are up to see if they can be. Bottom 6 is a logjam still with Hayes, Heinen, Acciari all blocking, and Pono needing to clear.
Or the Kids play with Geno and Rak and Rust go back to Sid. Dubas stated he was done trading for assets this deadline. Feel pretty confident in saying that hes going shopping this summer and intends to compete next season. We shall see how it plays out.I would be fairly surprised for their top-6 to not be:
McGroarty-Crosby-Rust
Koivunen-Malkin-Rakell
Next year, assuming McGroarty and Koivunen are on the NHL team.
I don't think this is all that surprising, I think Rakell has explicitly said that he loves playing in Pittsburgh and doesn't want to be traded.
Whether Dubas makes the call to trade him or not shouldn't be based on that, but I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest those three really enjoy playing for the Penguins.
Our goal should be to suck next season and Dubas should be trying to trade Rakell and Rust this offseason if he gets a good return and he should be firing Sullivan, who’s deserved it for a long time…I would be fairly surprised for their top-6 to not be:
McGroarty-Crosby-Rust
Koivunen-Malkin-Rakell

All the team said was an upper body injury. Nothing else has been stated.Wrong thread for this but what's the story on Malkin's injury?
Be prepared to be surprised then.I would be fairly surprised for their top-6 to not be:

I mean Rak could in theory play with the Kids after Marner signs here.Be prepared to be surprised then.
Sid isn't about change, and Geno is not the Geno of old. His linemates are not gonna cover up his warts and will actually hurt their growth. The best thing that can happen is Geno gets injured early, and they become line #2.
Unless another player comes in via trade, I'd expect McGroarty, Novak, Koivunen.
Everything they are telling you they are "NOT DOING."Our goal should be to suck next season and Dubas should be trying to trade Rakell and Rust this offseason if he gets a good return and he should be firing Sullivan, who’s deserved it for a long time…

Marner is a RW mostly, so that would mean Rust can play with the kids.I mean Rak could in theory play with the Kids after Marner signs here.![]()
And they’d be stupid not to if they want to achieve the stated goal of competing as soon as possible in Sid’s remaining tenure…chances of hitting every traded player in a Washington-like retool is very difficult to achieve…they need multiple years of top 5 draft picksEverything they are telling you they are "NOT DOING."

Geno - Sid - MarnerMalkin isn't good enough anymore to give him 2 rookies and hope that line has success.
He needs either Rakell or Rust or they need to acquire someone better from outside the organization to play with him.

Are they going to pair karlson with chychrun? Oh waitI mean Rak could in theory play with the Kids after Marner signs here.![]()
He and McG were first over the boards at the game I was at.Is Poulin killing penalties this year?
He would of been a good choice. Time to move onto Provorov, Orlov, Gavrikov. Heck Dumo back for cheap would be interesting. Are they going to pair karlson with chychrun? Oh wait
2 of those 3 were cap dumps we were paid to take. I don't think we were putting an awful lot of stock in them bolstering the bottom 6.Trading away a nothing player like Glass gives me hope that they will try to trade players like Heinen, Hayes and Acciari. It seems they finally understood that these type of players don’t help the team and a non scoring bottom 6 isn’t the way to construct a team.
