Totally fair. I think the cap going up and so few teams being in cap hell will really limit our abilities.

Gurgs had a decent idea (blind squirrels, broken clock, etc) of offer sheeting Mavrik Bourque which I am a fan of, but since we don't own our 2nd, it will be tough. I don't think Dallas would match a $4.5-5mil deal. But since we don't have a 2nd and we won't do our 1st, offering them a 2nd+3rd would be good value and it saves the heartache of an offer sheet.

That would be more in line with what I was thinking.

St Louis owes us a 2nd since we helped them offer sheet Bromberg and Holloway, maybe a re-swapping of picks can be arranged.

Montreal owns the 2nd but as was point out to me, it would be our 2026 2nd that would be used, which we have.

This makes Dubas seem like even a bigger idiot than I thought lol…

In sum,
No interest in trading Rakell
No interest in trading Rust July 1 though teams are lining up
Isn’t interested in getting as high a draft pick as possible even for McKenna
We are drafting McKenna with the Rangers pick, relax :P
Rants is free to exercise his rights, but his agent, who told Carolina he was open to re-signing there, is a jackass
Rantanens agent told the Avs he'd sign with the Canes to try and leverage more money from the Avs. Backfired on them when the Avs turned around and shipped him there. Thats why he was shocked he was traded, he didnt think the Avs were serious about doing it and Rantanen was pretty blunt with the Canes saying he wasnt interested in signing there. Thats what I have heard at least.

Marchand would be an interesting signing. I think people need to remember that 4 Nations happened and a lot of players were gushing about the chance to play with Sid. We dont know how that will affect things in free agency. If Sid starts texting people like Marchand and Marner in June saying lets get together and go for a cup it could go a long way. Marner is done in Toronto unless something changes these playoffs. Hes been treated horribly by the media and locals and no longer wants to play in the market hes from. That could change with a long playoff run and if he plays well.

"Hey Mitch. It's me, 3-time Stanley Cup Champion Phil Kessel. Did I ever tell you about the time I got those first two Cups?......"

Yeah, apparently the EP40 deal he signed most recently, his agent also used the Canes as leverage to get Vancouver to up their offer. Rantanen and Colorado were only ~$500k apart, based on reports, so he was apparently "stunned" when the trade happened.

Heinen, Acciari, and Hayes really clutter up the bottom 6 if Koivunen and McGroarty are ready and the Penguins bring in another top 6 forward. Hopefully Dubas can dump 1 or 2 of them at the draft.

Yes, that’s basically what I heard, but the agent said “yes”, they traded for him, and then Rantanen said hell no. He basically torpedoed the Canes for imaginary leverage with a team that moved him anyhow. Just top notch stuff

Agents playing games. Kylington had the same issue last summer. Caps apparently were going to sign him to a 3 year deal, then traded for Chychun. Flames were offering him 2 years and he demanded 3. Trade goes down, Flames pivot to Bean and Kylington is left holding the bag.

I’d be firing people. I guess Rantanen doesn’t mind because it wasn’t him who got screwed, but man, if I’m Carolina, I probably steer clear of that agent whenever possible.

I’m generally pro players, but f***ing teams over for sport isn’t my idea of healthy for the league (one of my biggest issues with the current nba)

You can't teach size
Tell that to my Swedish penis enlarger

Lots of scummy agents out there.

Acciari can go to WB/S, if they can somehow surgically remove him from Sully. Hayes and Heinen can be press box players. They're effective enough when in and out of the lineup.

I’ll be concerned when his actions match these words. So far he seems to be talking like someone who wants to compete but all the actions suggest were trying to lose. We don’t trade Guentzel, pettersson, beauvillier or DOC for futures if we’re trying to win. If and when we make a single win now move I’ll worry.

So far the best explanation is that he is posturing to keep prices high and to keep as many butts in seats as possible but really we’re rebuilding. That’s yet to have any evidence in action against it.
