Nah the #14 pick this year is coming from the Rangers, next year’s 1st will be the Penguins picking at #14 :laugh:
 
Regardless of what path we take in the rebuild, we need to build up our pool of assets. We need the next three seasons just to build up enough that we can decide if we’re going to be aggressive with trades, have enough hope that we can attract UFAs, or aim to primarily draft well.

If we had young guns, expiring stars, lots of prospects, yeah we could choose to trade for better players, but we don’t so we can’t. We’re 5 years off being able to even potentially do what Florida did.
 
I don't really even give a shit if Sid's a PPG player now. He already has the record for seasons above a PPG, as one of Gretzky's was exactly a PPG (1994-95 with LA). This season, if he sticks at above a PPG, it's just a formality.

How does tacking on additional seasons for a record he’ll already hold (for an arbitrary rate stat) change that? Or not change it?

Don’t see the correlation. The rings and championships are the reward for the “BS” and hard work.

Rakell has only had 1 better goal scoring season and 1 other close to this season.
At 23 and 24 he had .46 and .44 goals per game. This season he's at .45 goals per game. His age certainly indicates regression to the means here on out.
His value will never be higher.

Well, McDavid could follow up and take that record from him who's already halfway there.

Gretz held onto that record for how many years 25/26.
 
I’m thinking Florida is a possible spot for Acciari. They’re pretty bad on faceoffs and mediocre on the PK, and he’s played there before. Maybe Winnipeg as well.

As much as I hate him, it's really never a bad thing to add a defensively responsible 4C that can PK.

I want him to eat, just not at the Penguins table.

Yeah like I said - who cares. I don’t think Gretzky gives a shit that Sid took it. Doubt Sid will care if McDavid does. You think Sid is chillin in retirement one day hanging his hat on that… or the Cups and Conn Smythes and Olympic golds..

Literally the only place anyone will discuss it is on HFBoards. If that is your worry then so be it lmao

But I don’t think a retired Sid is going to be checking Reddit on the daily to see what dweebs think of his p/pg streak and how it compares across history :laugh: :laugh:

The calculation is missing a pretty critical variable: Rakell was never playing with a center as good as Crosby. In fact, he was playing with pretty milquetoast centers for most of his career, from a worn down Getzlaf to a ~60 point Zegras.

If he does go into next season as a Pen, playing LW with Sid and Rust is a good place to be if we're looking to keep his production up.

You are gaging a player who was on a lesser team where he ended up being the leading scorer on a team where he had his best playing center to the down years where the team got worse and worse.

As long as Sid has it in him, I see Rakell doing just fine.
 
I just want them to rebuild the entire defense. Please, if you do anything, change at least 80% of the defense over next season.
 
I think it’s a moot point because I’m skeptical that Winnipeg would do it, but a Rakell for Iaffalo and Yager swap actually makes me feel pretty good about the 2nd line in the future. If they pan out, I really like how McGroarty-Yager-Koivunen complement each other on paper. Yager brings some speed and shooting talent to that line, which I think the McGroarty-Koivunen duo lacks a bit (especially with McGroarty). If that line would hit their upsides, that looks like it could be a very good 2-way 2nd line.

Jets fans view him as their future 2C, so I doubt he’d be available for Rakell, but Dubas reacquiring a prospect he’s familiar with wouldn’t be all that surprising and Rakell does make a lot of sense for Winnipeg.

His 23 and 23 yo season Getzlaf was still a ppg player. Certainly no Sid but not too shabby.
Rakell can certainly defy father time. And have full seasons going forward. Sid can certainly continue to defy father time. And have full seasons going forward. None of which are anything close to a certainty.

He's got an 8 team no trade list. I would maybe ask for Iaffalo, Lambert and a pick instead of Yager if Rakell was willing to go but given that he has multiple years on his deal I'm not sure he would, even though Winnipeg with him could have a really good shot at a cup.
 
Ehh, I don't know that I care enough about Yager to bring him back tbh. :laugh:

And I just default to every guy with any kind of trade protection has Winnipeg on there. Wasn't there a poll or something recently that showed something crazy like 75% of guys with trade protection have Winnipeg on their lists? Coulda swore I saw something like that a couple months ago.

-edit- Here it is. Wasn't that dramatic, but still lead the pack by a huge margin.

I actually think Lambert is a bit better of a prospect than Yager, but yeah I’d be happy with either. I know that Winnipeg isn’t an attractive city to play in, but I don’t know that there’s a better cup contender right now that could want Rakell. I wouldn’t bet on him allowing it but it’s hard to say for sure.

I still think LA is the most likely destination, especially with Rakell’s familiarity with the area with playing for Anaheim.

Yea I’m pretty high on Lamberts potential and the Moose are dreadful this year so he might be undervalued. I’m not high on Yagers potential as a top six fwd after this season
