NHL starter? Yes.
Getting NHL minutes? No.
1. Not what you said.
2. I'm going through the top 20 goalies this season based on games played. They're reaching the 20 games played in a season threshold around age 23-24.
I think the reality is that the Penguins don't actually view Blomqvist as one of their top prospects.
They brought him up to give Murashov a shot in the AHL. He's expendable.
Core to me is Crosby, Malkin, Rust, Letang. I'd move anyone else. I don't see you getting any real value from 71 or 58 at this point, not compared to what they'll bring from an intangibles/leadership POV while also not playing well enough to keep us out of tank mode. I wouldn't trade Rust personally, but that is an interesting debate. They could potentially get a lot for him, but I can also see him as a career Penguin and even a transitional captain after Sid retires.Yes, but who is considered ‘core’. Right now it sounds like they aren’t trading anyone who isn’t on an expiring contract which doesn’t include Rakell.
Do you really think a contender is looking at the Pens roster and thinking to themselves, "you know what, we are probably one Noel Accari away from really taking a run at this thing.".????
Do you really think Noel Acciari is the only player the Penguins could trade?Do you really think a contender is looking at the Pens roster and thinking to themselves, "you know what, we are probably one Noel Accari away from really taking a run at this thing.".????
I need to know who your goalies wereI just ran a Tank Nation SIM and came out with UTA 1st and Pens 2nd, so sign me up for that Rak trade!
Way to change the subject.
Claim they're both hurt every game at the last minute and play the EBUG. Let a plug get a hit from the dream of his life drug.Blom should have been sent down a while ago but it's funny that Jarry is being called up after giving up 13 goals in his last 3 games. If they put Ned and Jarry in net together, they might be into something

His usage is bizarre in the NHL. And at his age, there is no reason to at least give him a short stretch especially on a bad team with Ned performing how he is.
I wonder if we could get both TOR's 1st this year and FLA's 1st next year from them considering how low they'll be.Which brings ups a point I've been meaning to make about Chicago. I feel they should be aggressive after someone like Rakell to help with the insulation of Bedard. They already have prospects with all the low drafting. And in the next 3 drafts they have 5 first round picks and 7 second round picks.
They're going to be major players in free agency since they're near the top in cap space. But you're not guaranteed anything in ufa. Grabbing a cost-controlled 25 goal scorer now gives Bedard a wing whether you strike out or hit the jackpot in ufa.
If you get a forward or 2, now you're set.
According to the main boards lineup thread, his current wings are Bertuzzi and Athanasiou.

Agreed. That Jones trade pretty much guarantees that you could get a 2026 1st for Karlsson if you retain him down to $7 million. Get on the phone with Dallas and try to figure something out.
I think he knows he will get moved. But won't be asked to waive till Dubas has an offer he will accept."Take a stance" as in "I WILL NOT WAIVE" or "I decide whether I want to waive or not when the time comes"?
You can either take this to mean that they have their eyes on another RD or aren't interesting in doing another big addition after Granlund. Everything Nill has said publicly is that they won't be doing anything else big
Nothing wrong with doing it in the off season.I think what Nill said when asked about it a few days ago is legit: he doesn't want to add an expensive player with term when they have numerous RFAs due for extension in the next 2 years.
My gut feeling at this point is that Karlsson goes to Carolina in the off-season as a Burns replacement.
Yaroslav Askarov is considered one of the top young goalie prospects in the NHL. He's 22. He's played 15 NHL games, the same as Blomqvist.
Jesper Wallstedt from Minnesota is 22. He's played five games for the Wild.
Dustin Wolf is 23. Prior to this year, he played 18 total games for Calgary.
Blomqvist isn't their caliber. His development is on track for his age.
That even ignores the premise that "a 23yo goalie with <20 NHL games is no longer a prospect and expendable"

23 is not young for a prospect in today's NHL how ever you want to frame it.
I'm not the least bit surprised to see you swinging in from the top rope to defend the team that has literally not developed an internal draft pick in a decade.
Agreed, Sid is not a baby, he knows where we're at and that's why he signed. If he somehow believed we'd contend...ya that's on him and is delusional thinking, love the guy and his fire but no way he looked a this roster and thought we're going on runs. So at that point, trade Rakell to set up his later years, it's the smart thing to do. This whole convo of us looking for a Rakell once we trade him, I get it but that's what our top 5 pick is for...sure Dubas and co. will probably say yep but what if we add that top 5 WITH Rakell?? At that point, you're doomed since Raks will likely hit a decline next yearFor the people who want to keep Rakell; if a team like the Sabres or Kraken had a 30 goal, 65pt dude who was 32 and were sitting like 5th worst in the league, would you say it was smart or dumb of them to trade the guy for a 1st+?![]()
How about you address the substance of the rebuttals to your opinion, for once?I'm not the least bit surprised to see you swinging in from the top rope to defend the team that has literally not developed an internal draft pick in a decade.
