Yeah I'd wait til the off season to consider making the deal I proposed. I was assuming the Rangers would pick 15ish this season.
Maybe they go on a run but they're teetering on being really bad. Igor's gonna be making $11.5M AAV next season so that's basically this summer's entire cap jump gone with his raise. Trocheck, Zibanejad, Kreider, Panarin and JT Miller are all on the wrong side of 30 and Zibanejad and Kreider are already f***ing awful. I said the other day but for how often we despair about Geno being cooked, he still has roughly as many points as Lafreniere, Zibanejad and Trocheck in 7 fewer games. He has like double Kreider's point total. That team has no depth to speak of.

They're a serious Igor or Panarin injury away from handing the Pens a top 5 pick next year imo.

I know Dubas is rumored to be shopping that pick, but he better get a damn sure thing back. I think, at worst, you're probably looking at like an extra 15th overall in your back pocket next year in what's supposed to be a deeper draft than this one. That's assuming they end up top 13 this year and the pick gets kicked to next season.

Lol no way they are giving JT 10 unless its like a 2 year deal. He will be 35 next season and is slipping.

I bet he gets 8 - 8.5 x 4. Similar to what Stamkos just got
.96 ppg this season, higher than his career average. 3 of the last 4 seasons he's had a higher ppg average than his career average.
While I certainly think he can command $10 million or more per year, I think he gives a hometown discount. Not as steep as Sid's. But a decent sized one.

I dont think so. He will be 35 when it starts. I think he tries to go more with term than aav. I guess he could get 10 if he goes 2 yrs

Yeah I think it's definitely the right choice to let Tavares walk for Toronto. I know Marner seems to be the lightning rod for hate and criticism among that core but he's so damn good, you can't let a guy like that walk.

Yeah either way the main point is they shouldn't have any cap restraints next season. Like I said, he grew up like 30 minutes from Toronto. I don't think he tries to bleed them dry. I would guess 3/$27 ish. Who knows.

Yeah as it stands I do not want Dubas to move that pick unless we're getting something incredible back.

The key thing is actually getting good value for him. If all teams offer is a 2025 1st + cap dump then no thanks. There's still value in keeping Rakell around to play with Sid
Very true. I truly think Crosby can produce with whatever is given to him. Even at this point in his career.

But obviously don’t want to surround him with absolute trash.

Still believe this team needs to act while the iron is hot.

Still think he could've been a guy we flipped if we gave him time. Had a stretch early where he was the best winger on the team for a number of games. Smart, defensively sound, very definitely could've been a fixture on the PK if given a chance. All they had to do was give him a spot in the lineup each night and let him do his thing and you probably get an extra 3rd or something at the TDL.

By no means a world ender or anything but Sullivan's refusal to utilize him when he had all of the boxes checked for Sullivan hockey was weird. Skill enough to chip in now and then too. With Friedman saying Vancouver, Edmonton and Vegas all wanted DOC, I imagine you could've had interest in Puljujarvi as well if he'd gotten the opportunities DOC had.

Ah well.
