Where I stand on Dubas will largely fall on what he does in the next few weeks. If he sits on guys like Rakell to keep the "room" happy, that will show that neither he nor the organization have changed learned anything regarding the importance of asset management. Right now, Rakell's value should be at an all time high. If he has a great offer sitting on his desk and he's afraid to pull the trigger because of optics.... This franchise will be doomed for foreseeable future.

I don't think Dubas will hesitate to trade anyone he's getting a good offer for. It's just a question of whether he gets a good offer.

Looking around at teams who could trade for Karlsson, I legitimately think that Ottawa makes sense to trade for him. They're currently in a playoff spot and have been playing really well since a rough start to the year. They finally have their goaltending figured out with Ullmark and have a lot of young talent on the roster. A Karlsson reunion on top of the talent they already have may really spike them into a contender spot. Chabot, Sanderson and Karlsson as their top-3 D with Stutzle, Tkachuk, Batherson and Norris at forward and Ullmark in net looks like the basis for a legitimate contending team IMO.

Karlsson at $7 million for Zub and Amadio is basically an even AAV swap ($7.2 million for Senators duo) and it saves Ottawa money due to Karlsson's lower money than AAV. Zub's also a pretty effective RD that you can slide onto the 2nd pair role. Get some picks and prospects with that and I'm pretty good with that deal.
I keep hoping Columbus makes a jump higher into the standings. They could use a RH, RD and can fit any amount of cap this year. Though I'm not sure about going forward. And they have a boatload of Cs.

That would be friggin' hilarious.

Even moreso once Sullivan put him right back on L3
purely for the banter. can you imagine how many months of trying to determine what happened or if anything really happened the board would enjoy? pitched battles between the dubas haters and the dubas accepters. dogs with cats, cats with dogs

Indeed! The annoying douchebags like me stepping in halfway through an argument between like... pixies and SEAL and trying to do some middle road bullshit. Some random weirdo migrating over to the board because he's a huge Mikael Granlund stan complaining every time he doesn't make it out on the first PP unit.

*sigh*

But no. We're just going to get more rants about like... the 2021 expansion draft.

Yeah, again I go back to the snippet from Leonsis' biography I saw floating around on twitter a while ago. He basically said McPhee got sick of Dale Hunter and Adam Oates' approach to coaching and he told them flat out "You have to coach the team you're given, not coach the team you wish you had."

Would love for Dubas to have the guts to say that to Sullivan. Or better yet, f***ing fire his ass after nearly a decade of failures.

I agree, but I think if you gave current Sully the 2016 team he’d play the current ‘system’ and we’d be in the WC1 slot and lose in the first round.

3 years!? 3 mill per year!?!?

Jesus f***ing Christ lol. I don’t know what people see in this dork.
Well it’s that or have to log in read complaints about even more Nietos and ZARs taking his place.

I choose DOC

In all seriousness he hustles and is someone that I think you can put on a line with prospects getting called up to help get and keep the puck.

I don’t think this matters though, pretty sure he’ll get moved.

Seriously lol? Only Sullivan would scratch Lizotte to play Nieto…and of course stifle Glass and Tomasino by playing them in the wrong positions

Now watch the team become totally complacent because Rakell is back and they are playing the Ducks and the Sharks. ;)

Remember when Lizotte was literally our best player during our best stretch of the season so Sullivan thought yo I can make him the next Blueger and totally ruined his, and the teams, momentum. Jackass.

The fact that half of this forum expected that exact same thing to happen is pretty telling of how stale Sullivan and his methods are.

The fact that he insists on having a 4th line that he can bury in the dzone and produce nothing this very year 2025 is pathetic. It's not 2016 anymore, you can't just play prevent-defense when goalie save% is hovering below .900.

The next time Sullivan shows any ability or willingness to either get players out of slumps (that aren't named Sid Crosby) or take advantage of the hot hand will be the first time.

This is why Dubas needs to take away Sullivan's toys and get rid of Nieto.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about Hayes. The dude simply cannot skate but he's actually producing pretty well.

I'd rather watch Hayes play than a lot of this miserable roster. He's awful but at least he can put the puck in the net here and there and isn't utterly clueless in the OZ and around the net.
