No it doesn’t. If we are targeting a 2C it should be someone like Novak, Frost, etc that we aren’t bounding ourselves to for 7 years.

Because the Kings need a goal scoring RH shot, they have Fiala on their 3rd line, and it saves them cap. Same reason Ducks swapped Hagelin for Perron. Better fit for the need.

I’d give Broz a chance first but Sid is only here for another couple years and Geno looks done…we have no other top six centers in the system with possible exception if Broz turns into one…I’d be fine giving Bennett 6-7 years

I think the only way I'd do a player for player trade with Rakell right now is if you're getting a 25-28 year old top-6 center for him. Trading him for another winger is pointless.

Either sell him for futures or trade him for a piece you'll need in the short term. Rakell for Fiala doesn't really accomplish anything in my eyes.

Fiala would give Malkin a winger who can handle the puck and help drive play in a way he cannot.

No he wasn't. Their 2nd line was Hagel-Cirelli-Paul to start the year;. Geekie was starting with Atkinson and either Sheary or Eyssimont.

He was up there within a few weeks of the season. I was a big Connor Geekie guy at the draft and in Arizona. He was in the top six within a week or two of the season. Looks like October 23rd.

Bennett at 6-7 years is a nightmare fuel contract. Makes no sense.

What? Two of their top 3 goal scores are RH shots. The Kings have Laferriere and Kempe. This doesn't really make any sense for the kings.

Also lineups only mean something to an idiot like sullivan when it comes to icetime. You say Fiala is on the third line but he gets the third most Icetime for the kings on the season.

It is like saying the pens should have traded Kessel because he was on the third line.

Kempe shoots left.

Kings fans and management are not happy with Fiala. I live in SoCal. Lots of Kings fans are agreeable to the deal...

Didnt realize Kempe played his off wing. None of the Kings fans on this board are lol.

Idk I think it could end up being really bad for the pens but I get the thought. I just think Rakell has more value than you think he does.

What are you talking about? The first three posts in the trade thread are like take Fiala away.

Rakell's contract could also be really bad.

Ya lol I guess I kinda missed that. Later on it seems more mixed.

Sure Rakells could be be bad but its shorter and cheaper. And the point is to sell high on Rakell now, not wait for it to turn bad.

More teams can fit Rakell in than fit Fiala. Your banking on Fiala playing better in the long run but if he drops off substantially going to a worse team your stuck with that anchor.

Like I said I understand the idea of taking a risk but I don't agree with the move. I would rather try to trade Rakell now or keep him for one more year and move him next deadline. You know that line is working now whereas you don't know if Fiala will work here.

I don't see any reason to assume Fiala would play worse when he'd be given top line minutes here.

Fiala would give Malkin a winger who can handle the puck and help drive play in a way he cannot.
What do we do with Sid in this scenario? Feels like fixing one problem to create another and if we're gonna do that might as well just move Raks for futures instead.

You keep saying top line minutes here but he is getting top line minutes in LA too and top pp time.

He is 3rd on the kings in average icetime.
Number 1 on the team in PP time.

He plays most of his time with Danault and Laferriere or Moore. All 3 of those players have more EVS points than Bunting and Malkin.

I think you overestimate him getting a bump with the pens. If anything I think he does worse.

Kings and Penguins play a different system.

It’s like Gryz here vs Boston.

They're both signed through the '27-'28 campaign.
But I'm with you. I'm not willing to take that $3 million gamble. I'm sure you could get positive value, possibly even good value, off of someone like Columbus. Especially with them finding themselves in an unexpected battle for a playoff spot and a boatload of space.
$5 million to them is nothing, especially if the cap is to rise to $97 million like Walsh is speculating. And they certainly could use a forward on a 40 goal pace.

Nah Fiala is signed through 28-29

But ya I agree with the rest. I think Rakell would have value to a young team with lots of cap and good players one ELC's. In like a year 5mil will easily be the going rate for 4th liners.

That's not what puckpedia has 🤷 .

Kings play a defensive first system. It’s north south. Penguins are more offensively inclined.

Gotcha. Gryz best seasons were still with Boston though so I dont get that comp.

His two best evs points per 60 came with Boston anyways. The only reason his numbers are up so much is because he gets 3min more a game and number 1 PP time. He has 37 career PP points. He has 10 with the penguins.

Fiala will have nowhere near the production boast Gryz has.

LOL

"Kevin Fiala is signed to a 7 year, $55,125,000 contract with a cap hit of $7,875,000 per season, currently playing for the Los Angeles Kings. His contract was signed on June 29, 2022, and expires at the end of the 2028-29 season, when Fiala will be 32 years old."

You sure your not looking at Devin Fiala
