Count me in but only on two conditions:
1. He can go 10 and 2 like his dad.
2. The Pens bring back Errey to mention it on every broadcast.

I honestly don't see where Dahlen would play for the Penguins even if he was legit. I think you ideally have McGorarty on L3 next year and Hallander probably doesn't come back to NA without some sort of assurance he'd be playing in the NHL.

In an ideal world, I think you add another legit top-6 guy and run with a bottom-6 of:

McGroarty-Lizotte-Tomasino
Hallander-Ponomarev-Acciari

Hallander on L4 feels like it may be underusing him, but it should be a huge improvement for L4 over guys like Nieto.

Why is McGroarty being penciled in a spot?

If you are going off who earned it based on play this year that would be Broz. He does everything you said while being a better goal scorer and producer.

If you go off play alone which they should, Koivunen would be ahead of both. He is number 2 in rookie scoring for all of the AHL.

McGroarty playing because of his defensive/PKing game is the dumb stuff this team needs to stop doing.

There's a certain setup that all NHL coaches want and the role McGroarty offers is different than what Broz or Koivunen offers. Koivunen is an offensive driver on L3 (taken up by Tomasino) and Broz is a 2-way 3C (taken up by Lizotte). Those guys aren't competing for the same spot.

There are certain requirements for roles that NHL coaches want out of their players and my roster recommendation is based on that. The primary guy battling it out for McGroarty's role on the 3rd line is Hallander, that role is the "can produce but also kills penalties and is good defensively" role.

The long-term 3rd line is ideally McGroarty-Broz-Koivunen (or Koivunen in the top-6 and Tomasino in his spot), but those players aren't competing for the same roster spot.

Dude are literally making up the spots they are competing for lol. Why is Pono in his spot? Why isnt Accari at center? You are choosing which spots are available.

Based on play so far this year, these are more deserving lineups.

Hallander-Broz-Tomasino
Lizotte-Ponomarev-Acciari

Or

Koivunen - Lizotte -Tomasino
Hallander - Pono - Acciari

I mean options one is honestly better at what the pens do than why you are saying. You have 4 center options and players on each link who can pk and play defensive roles.

That 1st option looks totally fine to me as well, I have no issues from a "lineup NHL coaches would want" perspective with that. The issue with the second one is that both Koivunen and Tomasino fill that "3rd line offensive driver" role and I figure one of them would need to be that PKing option.

Lizotte
Accari
Hallander
Pono

who can all PK.

Also the top 6 you pick up could also pk if it was someone like Marner ( I know a reach but still)

The idea that all the PK has to be in the bottom six and cant be good players is a sullivan thing that is soooooo stupid.

Im not sold on Tomasino being an offensive driver alone yet either. Not reason why you cant have two good offensive guys in your bottom 6.
