Zacha is in the driver seat for 2LW yes. However, I think this roster is composed of the same kind of guys like Zacha and Mittlestadt who are pass first guys and I think they should be looking to upgrade on.

Maybe you have a point that you can't upgrade that many holes in one offseason. But I just want a fresh look for the second line moving forward.
Zacha is cheaper and a good PK'er although really I think he's maxed upside offensively at 20/30/50. Id try to flip Mittlestadt for anything positive he probably has the ability to get to 60 points but there isn't room for both players on the roster next year If we assume Marchand is coming back unless they dont plan on getting a different 1/2 C or want to use Zacha on the third line.

I mean this does work as a framework, albeit not a cup winning one.

Geekie - Lindholm - Pasta
Marchand(?) - Mittlestadt - X
Zacha - Poitras (?) - X
X - Minten (?) - Kastelic

I guess, what are you signing Marchand too? I'm looking at Marner and Ehlers as the only 2 guys I'm interested in. Anyone else is just more of what they already have. I think that forward group maybe sniffs the playoffs is McAvoy, Lindholm, and Swayman all bounce back affectively next season.

The more I dig into this, the more I'm learning that there's just to much to figure out in one offseason for this team if they want to get back to relevancy fast.

I find it interesting that Beecher isn’t given the same “down year for everyone” benefit of the doubt as other players.

I wouldn’t say I’m his biggest fan, but you qualify him which I believe comes under a million, and you let him compete in camp. If he doesn’t he plays in Providence and you have a guy you can call up if needed.

Really not any downside to it.

I think the difference for me is that Beecher hasn't ever proved to me he's anything more than what he is now. And right now he's having the worst statistical season I can remember for a Bruin who played a full year. The eye test says almost the same thing.

Donny is gonna blow that 1st round pick trade it for owen power or something.
This season has sent you off the deep end Don 😂

It's okay they'll work their way back to a good team I have faith.

Doing the exercise of "who is penciled in" next year and woof is this roster wide open:

Geekie - Lindholm - Pasta
Xxxx - xxxx - xxxxx
xxxx - Minten - xxxx
xxxx - Kastellic - xxxx

Lindholm - McAvoy
Zadorov - xxxx
Lohrei - Peeke

Swayman
Korpisalo

The only one I'm going out on a limb for is Minten because I think he's passed the eye test of being a NHLer and I like his size. I want to see a full season of him at 3C and see what that looks like. I hope Khusnutdinov and Lysell could capture 3rd line roles as well, but they haven't done enough to be given a spot next year. Lindholm is just locked into that line because of his contract for better or for worse.

Everything else I'm open too any guy capturing a spot on this roster in camp. Get the highest pick you can and only target impact guys in free agency (IE Marner or Ehlers). Don't care about anyone else in Free Agency really.. If Hall or Marchand want to come back for the right price.. Sure I guess. This roster needs to find younger, impact players and move forward though.
What is Ehlers contract going to look like?

Did you watch him play at all?

That said, the Bruins will most likely do just what suggested.

The Geekie - Lindholm - Pastrnak line is new but they are bringing it. Rod the Bod who was a HOF quality center in my book said after the Canes 5-1 loss they had no answer for that line

We have a first line and top pairing if they want

Yes, I also said I wasn’t his biggest fan.

My point was, at the cost of a qualifying offer, would it hurt anyone to see if he can improve?

I don’t necessarily think he will, and if he doesn’t he can be sent down with no impact on the cap. Worst case scenario he takes up a contract slot.

I found this stats chart while I was cleaning some old files from my computer. Anyone know what season this was? Obviously post-2011, since Kelly is there. I can't remember which years Soderberg was there.

I think Sam Bennett is going to be one of the most popular offseason signings but I think it will predictably age poorly. I like the player but he seems to be an exaggerated progression of David Backes who we saw here. Maybe this is just a hot take but with him scoring just slightly higher then Zacha and Lindholm I see it as being a very big expectation to believe that the toughness and intangibles will make him a good value.

I want no part of it.

Can’t blame the signer? He’s the one who coveted him for the previous 2 years and pursued him through free agency and ultimately gave him that contract, so yes you can.
Signee, signor etc. I think he meant that you can't blame Elias Lindholm for taking the money. I think he'd be called the "signee?"

Agree with this - Florida did this the right way, got Bennett for 4-5M before he got his big pay day and/or slows down from age and play style. That's the sweet spot for a player like him

2014-15. I was actually just looking at this team a second ago so great timing.
Thanks. I don't remember what this table was, but it's obviously not the complete list. There seem to be some names missing who should be among the top points-getters: Marchand, Lucic, Eriksson. Not sure what's up with that screenshot I kept.

Here's the full list:

Sweeney and Neely have jobs for life. If Sullivan doesn’t get fired your choices are Leech, Donato, or Pandolfo. I guess there’s an outside chance it’s Sacco but I can’t see Sweeney going with an unknown to him and Neely, preferably a former teammate.
I hope they hire someone like Hunter, Tocchet or Gallant, but would also be okay giving Carle a chance.
