Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XX

Part of me would rather not sign someone like Boeser/Ehlers and go with this route…
2.4mil left over, so money and space to be flexible. Can’t afford Marner.

The only forward added to our top 6 is Hall. I’d rather take the 3-3m UFA wings listed here and turn it into the best single forward we can get hopefully someone that can drive play on line 2.

Use Khustudinov and depth signings/young players to fill out the bottom 6.

Is there something about Frondell that makes you take Martone over him or just basic player preference?
Player preference, I like Frondell and if they miss on Martone and the other centers I mentioned I would be fine with him, I think he and Martone are the two closest to being ready next year and having some impact.

See for me the being ready to play next year is such a minor concern when I am evaluating a player. I want the guy who I think will be the best player in 3-5 years, and will be that best player between age 22-32.

If Hagens is there for the Bruins they have to take him. Plays in your backyard. DO NOT MESS THIS ONE UP DON!

Assuming Misa is off the board of course. Is Martone a better prospect than Hagens? Can anyone confirm?

Personally I would prefer Caleb Desnoyers over Hagens , but I am no expert, I have limited viewings of both

I see Hagens as being a good talent and is a top five pick but is more of a pass first Center, playmaker vs goal scorer.
No doubt he is an NHL skater, which is very important and has top end speed.
His weight of 176 pounds would be a concern to me, if expected to play next year.
He needs to get up to at least 185-190.
Will this affect his speed.....like it did with Potsy?

I agree with you fully if it’s Marner, just feel like we can’t/wont match the offers over 13mil he will get. I like Ehlers more than Boeser but not entirely sold on either, and last summers signing left a cautious feeling in my stomach if you know what I mean. For this mockup, I didn’t want any acquired players via trade really (save for pickard), just who was out there via UFA (or obtainable RFA) which isn’t much. I would easily remove Hall and Roslovic, and Pionk and even Fabbro though to put a scoring threat up top and give the top 6 more gas. Cuylle though is a great opportunity. If you can find a way to trade for a quality top6 forward I’m curious what the cost is, and think it likely involves Zacha or Mitts given other players protections on the team.

No way you take Frondell or Desnoyers over Martone. That's Zborilism and taking a need over the best available player (if they pick 4 and the top 3 go as expected)
Id take Both over him, but that just my opinion, Martone reminds me of an Anthony Mantha type, sure he'll be a good NHLer, but one who you see so much more in, but your never getting.

I like Desnoyers a ton and think he's a winner, with immense talent, one who knows how to play the game and the right way.

My top 5 today, because i feel the Bruins will have a top 5 pick.
Misa
Schafear
Desnoyers
Hagens
Frondell

List is subject to change up to draft day, but if it was today, those are my top 5, take note Mr.Sweeney. :sarcasm:

Classic. I feel this is the most important thing to the Bruins brass.

Two players from New England drafted in Sweeney's term as gm. You can make the argument that he had actually hurt the team by not drafting enough NE kids, as he has missed many good ones.

Hagens could be the pick, but likely not because he is at BC, but rather because of the talent he has.

As of now I think Desnoyers is my personal favorite, but I don't think we get him, because I think he goes 3

Honestly, my little yap was more in terms of trading and acquiring so many US born players. I don't have all that much bad to say about the drafting other than the obvious.

And to think in 2015 he could've replaced his two Canadian CHL 1st round wingers with two Americans drafted shortly after from the USHL and that draft would be judged VERY differently.
