Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XX

Same. Taking any position other than C this year will be a blunder.

I disagree with this philosophy. To me you always go best player available. There's almost no one this year I'd consider a lock to be an NHL Star, top line, or top pair. It really is that weak of a draft. So reaching for a position to me is too much risk.

Unless they are able to make a splash in FA which is doubtful, this will likely be a multi-year retool regardless of who they nab in this draft.

I doubt any team with potential lottery pick for 2026 is moving it. The kid in the next draft is ridiculous. Probably generational. Hockey iq through the roof.
True, but I think Sweeney should at least try if he is in that situation. Never know, if the other team feels they are going to have a decent season, they may make the move to get the player they really want in this draft or maybe risk another team moving up to get the same player.

If the trade happens it will most likely include a late draft pick or maybe a c-b prospect.

So the first for the second and a prospect.

No chance of getting a potential lottery pick in next seasons draft for this years draft pick.

Lysell, Brown, Lettieri and Callahan all had transactions yesterday that seemed like they were headed to Providence. Brown and Lettieri on waivers. Lysell? Possibly a paper transaction.

And Viel is the only call up?

Now admittedly, I’m a dumbass. But I don’t understand what’s happening

I may have it wrong, but I believe Lysell and Callahan were emergency call-ups and those are time-limited, right? So they get sent down and become regular call-ups. Brown. I don't understand Lettieri and Brown unless it was just for them to clear to be sent down at some point, like Sweeney is setting the table to bring some other Prov players up in the near future.

From what I understand players recalled on emergency basis are only eligible to play until the emergency situation has been resolved. In this case Lysell was recalled when Kastelic was sent home so he'd have to go back down when Kastelic returns so maybe he's good to go? I'm Assuming Callahan's condition was Zadorov's family issue.

Not 100% sure if that's how it works but that's the way I interpret it.

Love to see it play out that way, but I don’t think anyone is going to believe we’re not desperate for a center.
The best possible scenario if the Bruins win the lottery is to have San Jose and Chicago finish second and third. Let the bidding war begin from those two to get the franchise defenseman they want.

Even if the Bruins trade down to three, they can get their potential first line center.

In your opinion is the difference between Misa and Hagens/Frondell/Desnoyers that small that makes trading down to 3 and missing out on Misa okay if they got an additional asset coming back? I know you're more involved in seeing these guys so just curious.

There’s no world in which Patrick Thomas doesn’t get signed by Washington/ or becomes available, right?

Also would like to know how the Sens feel about resigning Zettrlund with his performance so far…

Is there any forward you would take above Hagens besides Misa?

If they hold #4 or #5 and Martone is on the board, could they do something similar?

If you’re at 4 or 5 you have either Frondell or Hagens and Desnoyers. I think it would be hard for the Bruins to trade out unless it’s one or two spots.

But even then this never happens in the NHL. It’s theoretically possible of course but teams don’t trade around that draft board any more.

There is zero chance that works. Next year a generational talent is available. No way they give up next seasons first and next seasons worst for this seasons first. Doesnt really make sense. 2 firsts for 1 first? I don’t think any gm would do this.
I agree here but they could throw them a prospect to move up.

I don't think so. I think Martone is 6. Bruins can't afford to get fancy at 4 or 5, you MUST take you center. If you drop out of the top 5, there is potential of a huge fall off
Martone could be the next Brady Tkachuk. Yes you take Misa over him and have to look at the other centers as well but a power forward like Martone is extremely rare today and having our own Tkachuk is a very nice thought. If the Bruins wind up at six and Hagens, Misa, and Desnoyers are gone, I take Martone over Frondell and McQueen. I prefer Misa in any scenario.

Is there something about Frondell that makes you take Martone over him or just basic player preference?
