Agree with that. Teams like Buffalo and contenders have something in common, they need players for now to make the team better than it is, and they likely have players in the system that will be great in the next 1-3 years, but do nothing for them in the interim. Without a mix of 28-32yo who have been around and know what they are doing, you’re icing a u25 team that doesn’t have it all together. Target top 6 sure, but almost rather see those top prospects come in, and I’m not talking about Lysell or Merk equivalents, they need to better than that obviously

The return for Zacha would have to be significant IMO. I have yet to see a single reason why moving him would make sense.

To be honest, Loheri, you must decide if he is worth waiting on to get his complete game together, I am trying to be truthful, I am nots sure, his offensive skills are enticing, so maybe a slow move from me. Poitras, I am solid get away from this kid waste of time, shows less and less every time I watch him. I know that will not be popular.

Even though it would be easy to do, you can't have 12 forwards who play like Kastelic (play hard, but offensively challenged), you can't have 12 forwards who play like Coyle (defensively sound, but offensively mediocre) and you'd never be able to acquire or pay 12 forwards who play like Pasta (offensive super-star).

They often seem to refuse to take risks on the offensive side, and TBH are pretty tone deaf as to what the fans want.

To wit -- none of us knows what Lysell will be at the NHL level, but to watch them lose night after night, while the one guy who is under 22 --- who we have any interest in seeing play up here, sits in Providence.

I mean, God knows, we've seen our share of busts ---- we can take it. Just let us see what he can do.

Well said Sarge. At the end of the day, the mix here just doesn't work. Not the mix up front, not the mix on D. A team built to be average offensively and stout defensively, but ended up terrible at both.

If Sweeney isn't going to be shown the door (and I highly doubt that he is), there absolutely has to be some changes on the pro scouting side. This is a team that has had significant player turnover over the past 18-24 months, and the pro scouting had a large hand in all the players they've brought in and have clearly prioritize a certain type of player. A type of player the league is bit by bit moving away from.

I do agree thou, with Zacha, unless someone just blows their doors off. Him and Pasta just have to much chemistry going on. Coyle thou, I could see, but I don't think he will be, but you never know with injuries. Look at N.J. their all of a sudden looking for center help, so I guess one never knows. All depending on the return of course.

For all that want a "REBUILD " if you missed last night's game watch the rerun, because with a rebuild that is the type of games you will be watching for the next 5- 6 years if not longer ........I ask are you interested, I am not.

I feel very confident that both players have Buffalo on their no trade list. Because literally anyone who has a NTC puts Buffalo on there first then fills out the rest.

Wait I want the Bruins as high as possible (8 and under) and the Blues the pick in back of them

They basically suck but we have one less point so out first is high say 7 and they pick 8 and 40 (but we have the 40th pick)

I could totally see this, or the other way around: Marchand traded, Geekie re-signed. All things being equal (i.e., roughly equivalent trade offers being made for both players), I would rather see the older player shipped out and the younger one re-signed, sentimentality be damned.

End of the day, I just want to see the best returns possible for what we can make available and still ice a team to get through the rest of the year and have a foundation to build upon heading into the summer.

That would work perfectly, let the Blues suck, but not as bad as Boston, the rest of the way.

Different time, different regime, but I always chuckle when I think about them getting Robert Lang off waivers in 97 --- giving him 3 games to prove he was a combination Selke Candidate and Rocket Richard candidate rolled into one guy, then waiving him again and watching him turn into a legit top 6 guy for the next decade.

Cherry picking one guy? ---- Sure.

But to me the attitude/expectation is the same.

I’m a Coyle guy but two things why I would trade for him and why I trade him

1. He’s got term and if I was a team going for it I’d pony up a 1 and legit or very good prospect

2. Lindholm is going to be the 2/3 C who everyone will focus on

They are redundant and Lindholm a right shot C and younger & with that contract not going anywhere

I gotta think he is going ~ just a feel

Devils make sense he’s kinda what they need

Devils for sure and I think the Panthers do as well. If Seattle moving Gourde I'd think he's on everyone's wish list and then Coyle,( for a 3rd line center type) so Id think it might go right down to friday afternoon, if he is moved.

Agreed -- and NJ does seem like a good fit.

I really can’t stomach past 4.5. I understand why others will say differently, but that’s so much money for someone clearly in pain and held together by glue at 37yo. I see his production falling off hard and fast. I you need to have him play 3rd line minutes next year with Poitras to protect him. Love the guy to death, but I don’t want to risk other signings or our future for nostalgias sake.

Coyle a big boy with versatility & character - a bottom six stabilizer

I’m a GM I’m very interested with that extra year

it’s an emotional thing but I got past the trauma of taking away my kids pacifiers ( just not a good look in first grade) so I can get past CC traded & it’s good for him professionally

This is the move I’d get and I like where you headed

Florida or Devils

Sweeney & Fitzgerald clearly are like me and Lou so I’m guessing this could go down

I’d love to get crazy maybe Carlo & Coyle with Timo Meier or Dawson Mercer ???? Picks etc coming back

In full disclosure I’m not delving into contracts this is good old fashion 12 years old playing stratomatic baseball type trade on the porch in the summer
