Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XVIII ( if trades occur use specific trade thread)

If I'm Carolina and I'm moving Rantanen, I'd look to a team like Boston, won't face them in the playoffs and get 2-3 pieces in exchange.

Carlo + Coyle + Lysell for a signed Rantenan?

Being able to toss out Pasta then Rantenan as your 1A/1B RW combo for the next 5 years is enticing.
His lack of play on CAR really dissuades me from his likely upcoming salary. Especially since you are talking about acquiring him and not an FA sign. Plus, I’d rather work at LW since we have none signed for next year if you aren’t going for centers/top prospects with a Coyle and Carlo package.

"It's Pastrnak, Swayman, McAvoy. Those are the only 3 players the Bruins have made known throughout the league that they're not listening on."

What in the world is this front office's love affair with Jeremy Swayman?
I don't think there's any love for Swayman going on here. He's simply a severely depreciated asset at the moment. Why would they sell him at his lowest value?

My takeaway from that quote is that Brad Marchand is in play.

It could easily go lower. If he has a mirror performance next season, then they have an untradeable anchor.

Overall, I think Sweeney puts way too much value (especially $ wise) in the goaltender position. We have two .800 goalies taking $11.25 million in salary.

Just had a good laugh.
Zacha our 2nd line centerman 37 pts in 62.
In '72 Fred Stanfield the 2nd centerman had 79 pts in 78 games.

Which makes me wonder...does anyone have Freddies number? 🤔😁

1/3 of those points were on a Bobby Orr Phil Esposito led Power play. That team was great. The expansion draft and the WHA help cost the Bruins multiple more cups

Not

Lohrei?

I like Lohrei a lot, but also can't say I wouldn't listen if suddenly a young potential #1 center was being dangled on the other side. And no I don't mean Zegras, would have to be a better fit than that.

Then again I listen on Sway and McAvoy. This doesn't mean I trade them, but you always listen

He was just a shade before my time, but Stanfield was an excellent skilled player. He was legitimately a point a gamer even without one of the big guns. He was the main target of the Espo trade-not Espo.

I get it but 6 is our only D with an ounce of offensive talent

Let’s also not forget that while Stanfield consistently put up 20+ goals, his wingers were Bucyk and McKenzie who both scored at a higher clip. Bucyk alone put in 51 goals in 1970-71. That was an all-time line/team, kind of in a different world compared to Zacha and anyone else offensively from the current team with the exception of Pastrnak.

There isn’t a player on this squad that I wouldn’t move. Zero untouchables. We just saw what happens when you move a bottom 6 guy (that we drafted in the 1st, no less): you get a 2nd, max. We need bluechip, can’t-miss prospects or high picks to restock this organization.

What good will a guy like Pasta be in 5 years unless we have serious homegrown firepower on the way? McAvoy? Carlo? Those guys are 27-28 this season. They aren’t old now, but in 5 years they are nearing the end of their prime. So why keep them to be hangers-on when we finally have enough talent to get them another honest run at the playoffs? Can we even rebuild without moving quality pieces? Better to move one for the benefit of the others and get this rebuild in gear.

Do we trust Sweeney to build a legitimate core through the free agency market? How’d that go this year?

Would rather cheer on a team that sucks and is rebuilding than a team that competes for the fringe for the next 10 years. Should be building for Poitras’ generation, not Pasta/Carlo/McAvoy’s.

From the garbage us Bruins fans have had to put up with so far, I must say that despite all of his flaws, Mason Lohrie is an offensive machine. He has talent in abundance. I would put the “untouchables” as Pasta, McAvoy and Lohrie. I love the creativity he brings and feel he has a ton to grow still. For a defenceman - he’s in a good place. Ready to mature.

Swayman? Bruins traded Joe Thornton AFTER poor negotiations. Swayman upset management.

If Sweeney and Neely are safe - Swayman is not.

Otherwise, look out for a change at the top. The next few days should give us a better picture of where this sits. Swayman’s NMC doesn’t kick in until July I believe.

How many of Zacha pts are direct result of Pastrnak? Put him lower where he belongs it's ugly.
