I suggested Varana, off season, I wonder why he is available, I know he has some issues, and hope that is not the case.Hopefully Donny puts a claim.

That's why you need to get second opinions before doing stuff like this.
Blades is bad juju. Always has been, always will be. f*** blades.
Thanks!, I usually can quiet the demons in my head long enough for a coherent post but boy the Bruins are certainly testing that abilityYou have consistently some of the best, modest takes on this board
I'm not very good at predicting trades or values, but I don't think Carolina considers that for a moment.
Don't get me wrong, there's value in the package. However, I think they get much stronger offers. Much.

I know just curious what is happening to him now, he was a talent no doubt, just a shame his career went that route. He’s only played 20 games in 4 years.
Total.
Hard no..He is testing free agency so if they want to try to add him just wait till summer.Rantanen
Carlo
Marschand
Merkulov
1rst round pick
Think he's upped his value with his play this year - his #'s are borderline legit starter and considering the play in front of him all year I could see some teams brining him in, particularly with the cap going up.Hell not to many will think hes better than their back-up, to actually make a move for him, where it would be an clear-cut upgrade
That's fair. Interesting perspective.Well it depends to some degree what they are prioritizing. If the goal is to make an attempt to win the cup this year, that is a strong package, and it has a top 10 pick attached as well
If their goal is to maximize the long term value, then yes they will get much better offers.
Merkulov adds zero value to the deal, and adding an extra contract likely makes it a complete negative asset in a deal.
And if Carolina deals him it is because they dont believe they can sign him, so do the Bruins deal for him knowing 2 teams found him unsignable. Maybe we can turn him into Kreider and a 4th when we deal him to the Rangers in June so they can sign him![]()
Why would we trade for Rantanen when we're heading nowhere this season? Give him a blank check this summer instead.
We would, but do you really believe the Bruins have the assets to acquire him? Carolina gave up Necas plus for him, their not going to trade him to Boston for penny on the dollars, because thats basically what they'd be doing.Agree if the cost is prohibitive in regard to pieces --- but if he's here, don't we get to begin negotiating early and have the option to offer him a year longer than other teams?
Sweeney would have known that and sent him down before he needed to clear waivers
True, but he's a bona fide stud.Rantanen hasn't exactly been lighting it up in Raleigh.
12 games 2-4-6 -2
I would hope so.
Why were they sending him down again? He established himself as an NHL caliber player last season.
I would say he proved he is a capable backup, not sure anyone would trust him as a starter though and he makes a lot of money for a backup. He is a tweener goalie, maybe someone is willing to take that risk.Think he's upped his value with his play this year - his #'s are borderline legit starter and considering the play in front of him all year I could see some teams brining him in, particularly with the cap going up.
I'm glad you said "some of". Because, I most definitely have the most modest takes on this board. Been telling everyone that all the time for a long time. The best, most modest takes ever. f***'s sake...........You have consistently some of the best, modest takes on this board
If you can get Rantanen and he wants to stay long term you instantly found a top line C.
True, but he's a bona fide stud.
Rantanen can play CWho is the top line center you found by acquiring Rantanen?
The bold. Especially the latter. Take chances on some other teams failed projects. Reclaimation projects that cant hurt much more than the damage already done this season. There could be some diamonds in the rough found. If we are punting to next season, we know the shitters that are on the roster. I take flyers on anyone at this point. Not many on the current roster have earned the right to play out the season.
Let some providence players get extended looks. Trade for some other teams former 1st rounder who's spinning their tires. Put a claim in on Vrana.
If they all suck we get a better draft pick anyway.
