Pasta is a game changer he's what every team dreams about having, you just dont trade those guys.

This season hasn't been good but the bruins are still in the hunt for a playoff spot and thats without lindholm most of the season and now McAvoy. If Sweeney doesn't hit the panic button and is able to make some shrewd moves this deadline, and if he can add a legit top 6 this off-season, their right back battling in the upper echelon imo.

I think their a lot closer to being in the top tier of the league than the bottom tier, and Hopefully Sweeney does too.

Agree, no way you trade Pasta right now. He is a legitimate star player who still has 6 years left on his contract.

Four years, maybe even 2 years from now, the situation may be different, and maybe it makes sense.

Of course that is in the abstract. If someone wants to trade you Matthew Schaefer+ or maybe Misa PLUS, then you have to at least think about it, but that is not happening

You guys that are anti moving Pasta - I ask this in the most sincere way - why?

Because nobody wants to spend decades praying to get a player as good as Pasta.

What you're talking about is a full rebuild. You trade Pasta you're tearing it down and starting over. Rebuilds typically take a really long time, like 10+ years, and most often teams get stuck in pergatory, like Detroit, Buffalo, Ottawa, San Jose, Anaheim, Chicago... It took the Oilers 10 years (10 straight DNQ's), multiple 1st overalls AND the best player of his generation to recover.

It's interesting how comments cover the gamut from trade Pasta as part of a rebuild to we can't trade Coyle or Coyle because they are "glue" guys

I sincerely doubt they trade Pasta - he is the 50/60 goal unicorn we would search for in vain if we ever let him go. And let's not forget hockey is both a sport and entertainment and Pasta is one of the very few Bs people will pay to see.

I agree with the comment that Geekie - were he truly a top-six forward- would be closing in on 30 goals. He is a good supporting piece and I'd like to see him next year unless someone gave the Bs an over the top offer

Sway isn't going anywhere -from a big contract that would be tough to move, to having high potential to seeing how he would play behind a d that had a real system .....he along with Pasta and MacAvoy ( and H Lindholm if healthy) are the foundational pieces

Past that just about everyone is available for the right price - this team needs a reboot ( which is less than a rebuild and more than a tweak).

And please - for the thousandth time-call we give some Providence players 10-15 games to see what they bring. We know what we get from Wahlstrom , Brazzeau, Koepke et al and it isn't enough

If it's an emotional thing, I get it - he's one of the most positive energy guys we've ever had on this team, and is one of the best players in the world to boot. It's easy to fall in love with Pasta, we all have - or at least those with two brain cells to rub together.

But emotion can't drive business decisions 99% of the time. So where's the non-emotional logic?

If you:

a) aren't good enough to compete as constructed (they aren't)
b) if you don't have the resources in sufficient enough number to fix how you're constructed (they don't)
c) if you don't have a pipeline of talent knocking on the door of the big leagues (they don't)

Then what exactly is the point of retaining him? Seriously - I am not being a jackass when I ask this - why?

It's a waste of his career (admittedly a projection on my part - but I think a reasonable take) because teams can't win based on a single player - and hell, we don't even have a single LINE.

Moving him would sting, of course - but biting that bullet and moving guys like Pasta and Charlie would, theoretically anyway, REALLY accelerate the pace at which we get back to where we all wanna be - a perennial playoff entrant.

Explain to me, because outside of emotion I truly don't get it.

Pastrnak aside, who was the last Bruin to score 60 goals? (Phil Esposito 1974). 51 years ago. Half a century.

So you suggest they trade Pastrnak, for some magic beans in the hopes of finding another younger Pastrnak?

Since he's been playing with Pasta he should have a hell of lot more goals than he has. He missed glorious chance after glorious chance to score more goals.

Not saying he's a bum but is he really a number one wing? No.

"pace stats" as if its reality. Its not, the numbers are the numbers.

Geekie is slow to react and is a bit lead footed, he is better suited third line winger on a better offensive team.

Again im not saying Geekie is not a very good player.

And he also had a shitty start to the season like pretty much the entire team outside of Hampus and the 4th line. He has 30/30 in him and I hope he gets extended at an appropriate term and AAV.

Yeah, trading Pasta is insane. How many years did we watch this team asking why we couldn't have players like that when other clubs had their 50+ goal guys. Who was our last 50 goal guy before Pasta? Cam? The FO needs to figure out how to build a team around the guy so that all his immense talent can be best used.

The question can’t really be whether or not the Bruins should be sellers as the NHL’s trade deadline rapidly approaches, can it?

How many more signs does the franchise need to accept that it’s time to rebuild? If this middling, uninspiring season already had left our resident NHL representatives resembling a staggered and listing fighter, Sunday’s injury updates from general manager Don Sweeney were knockout blows. With Hampus Lindholm definitely not returning this...
