Some decisions are unpopular for good reason.
And sometimes 35 million copies of 50 Shades of Gray are sold

Marchand is owed a generous deal considering he played on the most underpaid contract the last time around.

A trade is likely the best way to avoid an ugly contract stare down. We can always reunite in the summer.

He's looking for term AND money. Do you give him both at his age?
I'd give him 2 years. If he demanded 3 years I'd do it but for a lower AAV.

I don't think you're a good doctor.

I love it.

You know what, Don? Don't ever let anyone give you shit about taking a positive view on things. Particularly things that are outside your control.

You have something in your life that needs fixing but just ignore it by taking the positive view that all will always be ok in the end??? Your friends are right to give you grief. Sometimes we have to face facts and take action.

Supporting a hockey team over which we have no control and our individual opinions mean nothing on outcomes??? You do you man. And do not let anyone ever tell you different.

I mean that sincerely. Anyone who shits on Don for being positive immediately goes on my shit list.
We need more positivity around here this season!

I for one, have been pretty much the opposite 75% of the time hahaha

He signed the contract, so he is owed, nothing more than what he got, if he feels he was screwed he should look in the mirror and then call up his agent and fire his ass.

The more I look at things its kind of funny. We want the B's to sell and get future (picks & prospects).....but under Sweeney we've struggled drafting/developing players
Valid point.

I would give one year at a time, and I certainly would not break the bank for him. He takes it fine if not see you at an alumni game.

The only UFAs are Marchand, Frederic, Koepke and Brazeau.

Koepke is returning bupkis. Brazeau I don't think has much use to a contender because he's not going to be getting top 6 minutes or PP time, but it's possibly someone wants some depth scoring, so maybe a 3rd.

If you are taking arguably their best trade chip, Marchand, off the table then that leaves Frederic. Probably a late 1st and "meh" prospect. But I'd definitely deal him.
frederic for two 2nds or one prospect
brazeau wont return as much people think he is worth (possibly a 3rd)
Koepke would clear waivers.

marchand is a Bruins for life.

can they be sellers and still make the Playoffs?
Bruins won't be sellers even if they find themselves in 7th in the Atlantic. There's no chance that at the very least a 2nd rounder doesn't get sent for a chance to make the playoffs. Unless if the Jacobs family sells that will never change. They should absolutely sell, but thats not realistic. They're going to be buyers. Which I guess is fine because on the flipside Sweeney can't draft anyways as evidenced by the consistently poor prospect pool. If they buy and make the playoffs, I can see them being knocked out fairly quick. They don't have the top end talent and it looks worse with this McAvoy injury.

You’ve tapped into my biggest concern. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

That said, not sure fanbase will support any truly dumb moves in the medium term —- or at least i sure hope not.

Has he been underpaid? based on what he's done, yes. At the time of his contract though, he had been a ~50pts the 3 seasons prior. I don't think the Bruins (nor Marchand) expected that he'd turn into a guy who'd give you 85+ points a year in his prime.
