Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XV

I’m talking for McCann and more importantly, a potential 4th OA here. I’d imagine that pick probably starts in Boston next year, and Jared gets us a top 6 winger that we desperately need multiple of.
Wow, I guess I didn’t realize Seattle was doing that poorly. So I apologize it’s not nearly as bad as I first thought.

I’d still pass though. Hell the Bruins first might be not to far away from Seattle at that point, depending on how the rest of the season played out

Are trades allowed during this “important” and “exciting” tournament?
I know I read somewhere that there’s a trade freeze. Yet it seems like there isn’t. Not that it really matters when your GM is once again asleep at the wheel.

Trades are allowed. I really think way to many posters under value Sweeney as a GM. I consider him one of the better GM's in the league. My bigger concern is how much influence Neely has, in any move Sweeney makes

Naaah, the question was about "Korpisalo's agent being a F***ing God."
I was thinking that anyone who gets Joonas Korpisalo a $20M contract over five years with a 10 team NTC is pretty damn good at his job.

That's no offense to Joonas, he's been serviceable. But $20M guaranteed with a 10 team NTC is impressive work considering his track record when he signed it and since.

CBJ haven't made the playoffs since 2019, and they have a few players coming back from injuries. They need a goalie. Would it be feasible to send Korpisalo + Federic and get Tarasov with one of their young centers or draft picks? We would have more flexibility without Korpisalo's contract and the Bruins could try DiPietro or Busso. What do you guys think?

that was my initial thought, but I’m curious if Carlo could be a good swap. Personally, I’d be down.

Also intrigued by trying to up the anti somehow and also swapping 1st’s in my GM mode fantasy brain. Maybe Carlo, Coyle, Lysell, our 25’ 1st and a 2nd for Mcann and Seattles 1st?
Fantasy for you nightmare for the Bruins and the fans.

Personally I only under value Sweeney because he is an arrogant, know it all who can't draft, evaluate pro talent, make good trades, overpays 3rd liners like Coyle, rarely has shown the guts to do something significant, thought Bergeron and Krejci could play until they were 80 and has this team on the verge of making the Oates/Tocchet team look like the Big Bad Bruins of the early 70's. Besides that he is great.

HE sucks

Columbus just seems to have set back after set back and could seriously use some help to make the playoffs but I think their goal keeping is solid with Elvis leading the way. Imo though they should be on Sweeney radar, but it so not a Sweeney move. Dealing with someone hes in a battle with to make the playoffs, he just doesn't have the fore-sight or cant picture the reality that this bruins team is more than likely going to miss the playoff, so go get some futures from anyone. The Jackets have a slew of top notch prospects, but then would JD and Company want to send them to another eastern team ? Probably not.

Dam this is Jared McCann right ? I guess if you want Sweeney fired that should do it .

Any openings in your fantasy league? 😉

If that Seattle pick stays where it is the Bruins would be getting a Top 5 pick in this year's draft.

McCann peaked two years ago and is on the decline yet he's still Seattle's leading scorer.

I think that deal would be a hard sell to a new Seattle fan base.

The more I think about it, its probably not to bad. His age and Cap hit is nice. so the bruins are gaining cap space along with a very nice player, but what I don't like is the exchanging of the first round picks, Seattle has a 4 game winning streak and the Bruins 4 game losing streak and their tied with the Kraken in the standings, and then your also giving them a 2nd just not sure McCann is worth all that, but in a bad draft year, maybe.

Realistically though I don't see seattle wanting Coyle contract anyways, but coyle and Carlo for McCann isn't to far off (maybe seattle adding a 2nd), so your dealing a 2nd and Lysell and flipping first round picks, not a bad deal if the standings stay as they are come draftday. I guess it'd be a deal that would need to be looked over (maybe twinked a bit)because none of the players the Bruins are dealing will/are difference makers and that number 5 pick could be.

I'm looking at the Seattle roster and I really don't see why they would want to downgrade picks potentially out of the Top 5, and ditch their leading scorer for a bunch of middle-range players to add to their glut of middle-range players. They have Berniers-Wright-Stephenson up the middle. Montour and Larsson on long-term deals at RD. What does Coyle and Carlo add to their group?

Honestly if you were to say the Bruins got 13 and Seattle got 4. trading 13, a future 2nd, and Lysell for 4 would be highway robbery for the Bruins. No way Seattle would make that deal. Throw in the fact that 4 has a legit chance at #1, and in the abstract is an abysmal trade for Seattle.

That said, there is also the chance Seattle finishes a bit better and Bruins continue to fall, and then you end up trading 10, a future 2nd and Lysell for 7, and that is probably pretty close for value, maybe even a bit of a win for Seattle.

dean - can't skate and hang at college level

cole hutson - 18 picks later, game winning goal and beanpot MVP

That would depend greatly on whether there is someone at 7 that either team really covets.

After that leternaeu pick and what kings got right after him in greentree who is absolutely on fire trade it. I say for zegras.
The 5 forwards taken after Dean are all around a point a game (Greentree is much more at 1.7). They all are playing either in the OHL or the Q. Dean has 2 assists in 29 games for an NCAA team.
I know, it's too early. Just thought it was interesting.

They do?

Why?

I'll take Ty Anderson any day of the week over a fellow member of Sweeney's Smartest Guy in the Room club.

The guy actually employed the phrase Player X "uses his stick to *express* a particular style of defense" or something precious like that.

He's awful. And awfully full of himself..

I had The Athletic through NYT for, like, two weeks.

It was four dollars a month.

It wasn't worth 50 cents a year.
Most of the time those sites tell you something that you already know or could figure out yourself. Just not worth it

Everyone but HF Bruins fans and local media (who get all their ideas from HF Bruins fans) believe he's one of the best GMs in the league, including all of the GMs in the league.
