Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XV

As long as Marchand is back in 25-26 I’m hoping McDavid & McKinnon recruit him

How interesting would it be to watch Marchand with McKinnon & Necas

Fan of Fluto especially the person but I’m Colorado I’m all in

Vegas has serious balls - they can go after him

Three years ago, Swayman was a rookie backup, Lysell had just been drafted and Brady Tkachuk was already a star at age 22.

Bottom line, Ottawa doesn't make such an offer and, Bruins management (like everyone else at the time) knew Tkachuk was a star (a difference maker).

Butterfly effect on this hypothetical, Brady breaks his leg in first game with the Bruins. Sweeney's a dope for making the trade.

I said it was hypothetical ----- main point is that identifying and going after/getting players who matter is the key to success, almost regardless of cost.

I get a chuckle out of the media. They are calling Servalli and "insider". I'm not at all sure if I agree that he is an insider in any fashion at all. Regardless, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say it's true. He's still only offering an opinion. No reference to conversations with agents, GM's, players or any REAL insider.

I'm not saying that Marchand will or will not get traded. I don't know. My point is only that neither does Servalli. Actually, I think I might have a better handle on it than old Frankie -- at least I live and die Boston Bruins news.
I like Seravalli. He broke the JT Miller stuff, well before anyone else.

I agree that in this case he's just giving his opinion... But I also don't think any of the Boston media knows anything either. I don't think the Bruins share anything with them. They're all just giving their opinions.

I'm more interested in their 23 and under players and prospects.

Guys like Cal Ritchie and Matt Savoie.
Exactly. Bruins should not be interested in other teams draft picks unless they are being used to flip for young players.

Players take too long to develop.

I think late first round picks in most drafts are way overvalued across the league.

Servalli is the first one any Canadian team runs to, except for ironically Vancouver, as they have a saddled stable of leak receptacles at the ready for any situation.

US teams? Meh.

And the Boston media hasn't known anything in forever - maybe since Will McDonough died. The last I can recall actually hitting on something was Jackie McMullen, though my doctors give me pills and I don't think good.

The only thing the Bruins could offer the media over the past couple decades is exposure to social anxiety.

Who do you trust more as an insider, Seravalli or Sláinte? I'm not saying Marchand won't get traded, but he pretty much turned down those Marchand to Edmonton rumors so he must have known something to speak on it. I'll have to find the tweet that claimed executives don't believe the Bruins will trade Marchand.

Caught Fluto on 98.5 a few minutes ago

Expects low returns for UFAs

2 for Frederic
2 & decent prospect not elite for Marchand

Yeeeeeeehawwwwww

Yawn.

(Surprise.)

Sounds like something Fluto was fed from Bruins management when they try to explain on deadline day why they didn't move pending UFA Marchand.

Go away, Fluto.

Bruins management needs to accept the reality that more than likely they won’t make the playoffs and do what’s right for the future by acquiring assets instead of letting players simply walk away in free agency, but there are multiple reports out there that they are shopping players, so thats a good sign, I think.

A good sign if true.

But I don't trust Sweeney to do what you suggest.

Again, he will do everything and anything merely to sneak into the playoffs because that's the bottom line from "the Jacobs family."

Wake me when it's over.

Only way to get a top #1 is pick in top two

Or

Get lucky as shit

Bruins fans need to get in reality

They want a magical GM & #1 center to appear

Best to take a half dozen years off learn to play an instrument, volunteer at a shelter, get off their parents phone plan, check in each June and see if Bruins are picking 1 and there is a McDavid, Crosby, Matthews and not a Yakamov, Slafkovsky, Power, or Bedard are there

They hate Fluto

They do?

Why?

I'll take Ty Anderson any day of the week over a fellow member of Sweeney's Smartest Guy in the Room club.

The guy actually employed the phrase Player X "uses his stick to *express* a particular style of defense" or something precious like that.

He's awful. And awfully full of himself..

I had The Athletic through NYT for, like, two weeks.

It was four dollars a month.

It wasn't worth 50 cents a year.

There are some nice forwards available in this years draft from 7-10.
Personally if we can accumulate picks, I would be all in to move up and get Michael Misa.
Boy, can he skate, reminds me of Patrick Marleau.
He will be NHL ready next year.

I just looks at his stats, wow we have not seen anything like that since the Seguin era. The kid has scored 44 goals in 47 games and has 99 pts so far.

I have no problem with going for high end talent in the draft.

I agree completely. It’s why i dislike headlines like “insider pours cold water on xyz”. “Reporter gives opinion on xyz” is better.

Please don't think I was having a go at you. I definitely was not meaning to do that.

I think a lot of media types just put their opinions out there. If they had sources they’d use (named or not) them.

Just my opinion.

I certainly don’t know what B’s will do, thats for sure.

No first, no Marchand. We’ve been paying all these years, other teams will as well.
Agreed. Wasn’t Hathaway a 1st and 2nd for a UFA?

If prices are that much different this year then Marchy stays. Can’t imagine B’s would make that move unless Marchy demanded out which I cannot see.

In the right situation I'd trade both. I would need to find at least 1 capable right-shot D-man between the deadline and start of next season to be able to move both out. I'm not married to either of them.

I would move anyone but despite the beating he takes here, Carlo is a very capable stay at home defenseman with a good stick as well as a right shot. Plus, he has nine years of experience, is still relatively young, doesn't break the bank @ 4.1 million plus, and is signed through 26-27.

He's also a career plus 129,

I would keep Brandon if possible.

It was Hathaway AND Orlov for Craig Smith, a 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Orlov was the prize in that trade so it’s hard to parcel out Hathaway’s piece.

Bertuzzi (50% retained) went for a conditional 1st and a 4th.

everything you said makes him a desirable trade target for playoff teams, along with his playoff experience.

Bruins imo should take advantage of this, his value is still probably very high. Package him with Freddy and you should be able to get a real nice return
