I don’t know how anyone can honestly believe we’re still in it this season, we’re out of the playoffs currently, and all the other teams fighting for the last two spots have multiple games in hand. We need a lot of help, and the boys just don’t seem to have it together.

I’d entertain offers for Marchand, Coyle, Carlo, and Korpisalo. Shelf Hampus for the season to make sure he’s healthy enough for next year. Insert Poitras, Merkulov, and Lysell into our top six Maybe the youth ignites something and we catch fire, and if not then we maybe gain a few spots in the draft.

That fool monty got outcoached and shot himself in the foot like elmer fudd. That team had dynasty material. 3 games to 1 lead and they lost.
Dynasty to me is at least 3 straight titles. That said ,Monty surely played big part in that upset but if Marchand scores on breakaway we may not have this conversation.

Why is that?

Coaches certainly use it. Players often talk about.

It definitely works to some degree when comparing players on the same team.

Lou Lam has tried to get the stat taken off as an official stat the NHL tracks. There's been plenty of pushback against plus/minus from coaches to players to GM's to agents negotiation contracts who don't think much of the statistic and see it as more of an anomaly.

You always should hope to make the playoffs. It wasn't that long ago when Florida squeaked in and everybody laughed thinking they would be a cake walk....... We all remember what happened.

You never know once you get in. Anybody seriously scared of any of the teams in the East outside of the Panthers?? And i only say the Panthers because they are battle tested.

Try to make the playoffs. You can still re-tool and make the playoffs.
Do you realize that Barkov, Bennett and Duclair missed 14, 18 and 62 games respectively in 2022-23. Think that may have impacted Florida that year?
Boston wouldn't have faced Florida 1st Round. Would have gotten the NYI.

I see that you play nhl video games, top 6 you're shitting me right
Eh, those games are pretty garbage actually. And yes, top 6. Are those guys top 6 guys, probably not, but when you’re sinking, you can tread water or try something else. I’m game to try something else, because we’re barely treading water as is.

It’s a slippery slope. I hope by pre-March 7 it will be pretty obvious if they are not going to make it. I’d never root against my team getting in, but what I’m most afraid of is them making some silly trades (or rentals) by March 7 and get in the last game of the season, and somehow convince themselves that they really aren’t that far away from being a top-tier team again. They aren’t!

If missing the playoffs is the only way to drive that point home then so be it. This team is not a player or two away, it is several. The sooner they acknowledge that and take steps to trying to go about it the right way (Sell) then hopefully we see something to get excited about. The worst thing to do is to do nothing, or worse yet to be Buyers.

Just for fun.....if the Bruins were to go shopping, what does this look like (I have no idea if it works cap wise)

Brandon Tanev from Seattle at 50% retained

Gus Nyquist from Nashville at 50% retained.

Both are UFA this summer. I have no idea what the cost could be can't imagine the price to rent either to be excessive.

Geekie - Zacha - Pasta

Marchand - Poitras - Frederic

Nyqvist - Lindholm - Coyle

Tanev - Beecher - Kastelic

Lohrei - McAvoy

Lindholm - Carlo

Zadorov - Peeke

Swayman

Korpisalo

I root for my team to win every game. Period. No exceptions. And I'm happy when they do. People who root for their team to "tank", drive me nuts. I also try to be pragmatic about how good they are and try to temper my expectations. 50 years of fandom will do that to a person.

That said, I agree with you.
