Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XIX

Two top 6 wingers, a healthy D core, and hopefully Swayman hitting the reset button will push the Bruins back in the playoff picture next year.

Absolute phenom and I am fine having another bad season for a shot at him, because nothing Sweeney does is bringing in a legit top line centre anytime soon.

They can’t keep playing a 7.5 million dollar player on the third line. Every effort should be made to move him in the offseason. Include a first round pick and salary retention if you have to. If he can’t play in the top 6, you’re better off eating a chunk of the salary for the next 6 years.

It would be nice to send down some of the AHL’s and try the rookies.
I would bring in the providence line of
Lysell Merkilov whalstrom
They have some chemistry right now and see what they can do for a third line in NHL

They only get 4 recalls from the AHL the rest of the year, I can't see them using 3 of them to try out an AHL line. It will be interesting to see if Lysell gets a look this year, honestly I don't think he has earned one in what has been a very disappointing season

Listen I am not supporting this same regime doing that again.Absolute madness. How many 1st round picks do we need to suffer moving to shed bad deals this man made? It's bad enough we will need to watch him replace yet another head coach. Its like spinning the wheel on the Wheel Of Fortune here and always hitting bankrupt.

There might be a point where that statement is true. That is not the case for next season. They have plenty of money for next year, and very few options to spend the money on . Is Lindholm overpaid, certainly for what he has done this season. Is he a negative player on the ice? Absolutely not.

I’d pencil in Wahlstrom for third line RW. Seems to have found his scoring hat since being sent to RI. For the LW on either first or second line hopefully Fraser Minton has developed enough to assume a larger responsibility.

Also, doesn’t a decision have to be made on retaining Merkulov’s services?

Kids my new favourite Canadian up and coming player. He is gritty too, maybe even dirty.

Players won’t try to lose for obvious reasons.

Bruins have next to zero chance at getting him. They just aren’t even close to bad enough. Have you seen the black hawks and sharks? When mcavoy and lindholm back this teams significantly better. This is the season the bruins might have a chance at a good pick. I hope they can ninja a top six player in the 2025 draft.

I suspect that decision on Merkulov has been made. AAAA player

Why lindholm played well last night lets not TNT it yet.

I said a shot at him.The Oilers never had worst 2 records and landed McDavid.Anyhow ,I would be fine with another crappy season for a chance to get him.I missed Bobby Orr days here born in 69 and would say Pastrnak has been the best Bruin talent I have had pleasure to see.I would love to see a player like McKenna here just once before I leave this earth.Even if they make playoffs they would not go far without a top line centre anyhow is a good bet.See what off season brings, but there are no top line centres there to buy .I agree about this draft though and good odds Hawks ( if win lottery) take D man Schaefer first overall so all the centres should still be there 2 to 7 if Hawks get top pick.( My opinion)Fingers crossed they get 1,even if it takes time to develop him.

You cannot move him for quite awhile and then you will be limited. Bruins are stuck with him, unless he ask to be moved, and then find a sucker to take him. Is Donnie a twin, who is a NHL, GM .

I think you are right about Pasta, though there is a good argument for prime Middleton being much more complete and better and 77 of course. I will take any top center prospect we an get or d for that matter. In fact, I would go defense. That is how little I think of everyone from Zad down. No telling if Hampus returns effectively either. quietbruinfan.

In a vacuum, I agree they should look to see what they can get. But the salary cap is going up by a lot over the next couple of years. A 7.5 mill middle 6 center won't be an uncommon thing. Lindholm is still a good player and I wouldn't be surprised to see a turnaround in his points production if he comes in healthy and more familiarity.

Quietbruinfan,,, Pastrnak when it's said and done will have Buyck team goal record barring no injuries. He is already over 800 points & 18 goals shy of 400 .Not for covid he would be past that already.Anyhow I loved Middleton and yea he definitely was more complete being great on PK etc and should be in the Hall but I don't think of him above David .It will be more clear once David's finals numbers are there upon retirement I think.

DS on his last leggs

McKenna next year then Dupont the following year, you would have a MacKinnon/Makar duo.

There are no quick fixes here. If I am Sweeney, I don't know what I do. Marner is interesting, but rather go for Eichel in 2026. The D is atrocious with a capital A. Again, I would try to find replacements from Hampus on down, and that includes bad Zad.

As for Elias 28, somebody has to tell him to go to dirty areas and stop passing and shooting from the perimeter.

Marner Zacha Pasta
Desnoyers Mittlstad Geekie

Beecher Kastelic Lauko

30-32mil top play?
I think you gotta put your highest paid center on the first line there. If he can't produce with those two then yeah he's probably cooked.

(All hypothetical obviously)
