Can Marner play LW? Ideally you would want him on a line with Pastrnak. Both are right hand shots.
If the answer is yes and he wants to come to Boston than I would go up to 14 million per. Cap going up year by year, Marner and Pastrnak in their primes. Draft the best available center in this years draft and the Bruins are back.

Mitch Marner is not a guy that will lead a team to a Cup. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it.
Funny, lots of griping about Bruins doing Marchand a dirty deed and ignoring loyalty and history (much of which Friedman has just now cleared up erroneous reporting on same). Loyalty and history -- the kind of intangibles that can sometimes make the difference between almost winning it all and winning it all.
And yet at the same time, we're going to totally ignore intangibles when talking about Marner. Supremely talented "leader" on a team that cannot get past the first round. Winner - not.
Yes, a fool, other than Sweeney, who would offer a pick for Korpisalo. To get rid of $3m in cap space in the next 3 years would cost the Bruins more than 1st pick.
I am of the opinion on Marner never been excited about him, but who knows maybe he will shut us both up.
I think the odds of Marner coming here are pretty slim to maybe zero, but he wouldn't have to lead the team. Highest paid, most talented does not equal leader and no reason it has to. We'll see how this new leadership group shakes out in Boston, but that job will fall to the next captain and his alternates. Besides, Toronto's first round exit problems have been much bigger than Marner
If a player of Marner's caliber is available, Sweeney damn sure better make his best pitch. He isn't doing his job if he doesn't, and if he by some minor miracle does land in Boston, I would hope you would be 100% behind the guy to succeed.

I’m not saying he’s Tom Wilson, but his playoff PPG% is better than Bergeron and Krejci.
I get his flaws, but as I said earlier, people said the same about Modano and Yzerman until they won a cup.
We were also told that Taylor Hall was a locker room cancer and then he wasn't.
I think he has value to a team like Chicago. Work with Spencer Knight.
Something like that. Worst case the Bruins keep Korpisalo who's been quite good this year.

Honestly I'm not concern about Swayman yet. Has he had a bad year? absolutely. In his first 132 games over the last 4 seasons he was a 2.34 GAA / .919 SV% guy. This season he's a sub .900 and knocking on the door of a 3.00 GAA. With that said though, his Goals Saved Above Expected is a -1.5 on the season, so he's saved slightly fewer goals than he should, but not by a significant amount. Now for $8 million, obviously you want a guy saving more goals than he should.
The reason I'm not freaking out about Swayman (like many are) is because he's a got 3 really good seasons before this year (4 if you want to count his 10 game stint after turning pro). Just like there are players that have career years and it becomes an outlier, players will also have career worst years that become an outlier.
This season was a perfect storm. Swayman gets signed late and no training camp in. Hampus goes down early in the season and doesn't return. The coach gets let go after ~20 games and some feel like the team knew Monty wasn't returning and because of it and he lost the room. The offense has just not been there. Despite being 13th in expected goals for, they rank 25th in goals for. The PP ranks 30th in the NHL and the PK ranks 20th in the NHL. This is a complete 180 from where they were over the last 3 seasons when they ranked 10th in the PP and 2nd in the PK.
Again perfect storm. I'm not ready to throw everything out those because of one bad season.

That's not on Marner. The leafs have had a lot of holes defensively and between the pipes. The guy was huge at the 4nations scoring a big goal and setting up the biggest. His play there among the elite of elite screams winner. I think there's room here for him in Boston.

Korpisalo moving is the only way you could remotely get this done, even still I’m not sure how you are getting this lineup under the cap as suggested/constructed. With all signed players including Lysell, we have 27.09mil. Marner and Oreilly is 18mil, Lohrei and Joki likely combine for another 6.25-7.25mil…that leaves you with 2/3 mil left and you still need to sign Geekie, a 3rd line wing, two 4th liners, a 13th forward, and a 7th D…

Not everyone, but it seems like a lot of players as get older figure things out and change their mindset and how they play.
In the end, he’s a legit 90 point scorer and the Bruins need exactly that.

Could be as far as Marner but he was the second best player on the ice against Colorado after Mackinnon. Tavares 11M a year for 7 years? Lol that puts him at what 42 years old?

Keep drafting especially scoring type centers screw this grit crap for now. Get skill. I want that frondell kid bad . Move up to get him whatever it takes.
Count me out on Marner. Skill is off the charts but I think he's lacking where it counts. With the contract he will be sure to get, I sprint in the opposite direction.
They beat Tampa Bay in '22 in the first round and honestly they were worst case
50\50 to beat Boston last year if they were healthy. I think 'tending, d Corp and then Matthews is the biggest issue and not Marner.
I am not denying their core have underachieved bigly but Marner's play this year has been different from years past.

Look, Marner is someone that’s easy to hate, but anybody saying he isn’t a gamer, weak in postseason, and all of that stuff is either too busy looking at his ugly face instead of his play, doesn’t watch the game, or just is automatically against him because he’s a Leaf. I’m guilty of 1.5 of these reasons, I don’t like him, but I would if he was a Bruin- his worth is warranted. The guy is better than 98.5% of this league. He would solve a much needed issue for years to come and would alleviate all of the heavy lifting from Pasta which will pay dividends. He’s going to cost a lot because he is simply worth a lot.
If we don’t have a star center and it’s not looking like we will, save for a lucky draft and years of development, or some giant trade that leaves you with more holes to fill, having two of the best wingers in the world ain’t that bad.
If he’s interested, so should we.
