These kids who have had everything handed to them would run circles around the heroes of yore.

Depends on the realm, my friend.

I know 24-year-olds who can't deal with the pressure of calling a doctor's office to schedule an appointment and wouldn't dare take their car for an oil change without their dad by their side.

I own two adults in their 20's and I love them ---we did our best to bring them up right, tried not to "coddle" them too much and while they're really good people and are relatively independent (in today's world) there are things they get worked up about and things they don't understand or can't/won't do, that sometimes just baffle me.

I still find it amazing that Carlo has a No Trade List option. I know its the standard but this guy is 3rd pair on most teams. The B's should shop him like there is no tomorrow. I'm sure there are some teams out there that would want him. EDM? WPG?
Last year there were something like 78 (exact number escapes me) RHD who played 20 or more games, which is a pretty low threshold. He is absolutely a 2nd pair RD on a lot of teams.

Now the way he's playing this year, you may have an argument, but he didn't receive a NTC based on this down year.

3rd pair

Don not going into full panic mode is a good thing. He’s waiting to see a full healthy line up in action before making any rash decisions.
With the exception of Kastelic, our forward group has been remarkably healthy this season…….and we’re still 25th in the league in goals per game. God help us if Pasta ever got injured and needed to miss a few games.

If they lose today I’m thinking Sweeney at minimum makes a public appearance.

Get some youth in the system, in the age 25ish range who’ve maybe fallen out of favor with their team.

Marchand rental, then returns July 1st would be great. He lands a 1st ++
Genius

Pretty sure Carlo hasn't been a third pair defenseman since his rookie year. A second pair defenseman on a team that, until this season, has been one of the best teams in the league. How can he be a third pair player on most teams now?

I'd base my trade around Zegras for Lohrei.
Both similar ages. Boston has a core D of McAvoy-Lindholm-Carlo-Zadorov for the foreseeable future. Peeke signed through 25-26. If one thing has been apparent, it's the lack of high end skill in the top 6. Adding Zegras to play with Pasta and Zacha would be huge. Money doesn't work with just those two involve so we'd have to flip someone else, potentially Coyle or Freddy in a side deal for picks/prospects.
Lohrei is your only puck moving dman. Hampus is decent carrying up ice but Lohrei is their best option. He’s also helped improve the 1st unit PP. I’m not opposed to moving Lohrei but would prefer in a larger package for a bigger fish than Zegras.

I’m not sure Zegras is any better than Poitras. Poitras here in Boston being forced to play two way hockey. If he were on a bottom dweller and allowed to freewheel offensively with zero regard for his defensive zone it’s safe to say he’d put up a pretty stat line.

If he leaves, do not make the same mistake they made with Krecji, move on and get younger. Stop kicking the can down the road. The past is the past, it was nice, but it is over.

I’ve never loved Carlo but he’s been an excellent Bruin over his time here. He’s been easily a top 4 NHL dman just about every year.
On the Bruins yes, that's why we can't get out of a round of playoffs.

He's a third paring guy that make a shit ton of costly mistakes that end up in the Bruins net. Not to mention he's easy to play against in front of his net.

Not a recipe for success when it matters.

Its time to move in a different direction in his spot.

If he leaves and considers coming back on a 2 year short money deal what’s the logic to turning him away? At his age he’s still a top 6 LW. Now if he’s looking for a handsome pay day then the decision is easy

If they make an effort to resign Geekie and Marchand, I don't see why they can't sell AND try to make the playoffs.

Freddy, Spoon, Brazeau if they don't intend to extend, Callahan, Koepke (see Brazeau), Beecher....

You can trade some of these guys and use call ups, and not change much. The moment you sell Geekie and Marchy, obviously the year is done.

Now that I think of it you are correct. he got the contract when he was a much better defensive Dman. my bad about that.

I will argue that he is a 3rd pair. He has no offensive capabilities. Takes forever to shoot the puck, most often misses the net or hits the goalie in the logo. He's easy to knock off the puck. Horrible against the boards. Very soft in front of his net. Slow. Gets burned wide, all the time. In fact the only good thing about him is his reach. When lindholm is healthy, he easily fits 3rd pair if not farther down.

He is 37 years old, time to except that 37-year-olds. only have one way to go

36 soon to be 37 year old is on pace to register as many points as he's had the last two years and thats playing with 3rd and 4 liners, and he's still second on the Bruins in points. Lets face it Marchy is defying father time and he brings so much more to a team than just points.

I'm thinking he's not going anywhere, I hope I'm wrong and the bruins move him for assets and bring him back in the off-season, thats if he wants to comeback, but I wouldn't give him that option today. today I'm moving him for futures.

Like Mick said on the podcast yesterday Lindholm is on his 3rd team/system in a little over a year. I think once he gets more settled in he'll start performing better.

Then again I could be wrong, it's happened once before.......
I am so glad I am not alone in this. I've been beating this drum all season. New city, new system, chaos with an injury in camp plus Monty and Sway distractions. Add in that new guys tend to take a season to adjust in a normal situation. He's going to be just fine now that he knows what his role is going to be here. Same with Zaddy.

What is the most important thing you'd like to see the Bruins do at the deadline, in one sentence?

For me, it's add a young NHL (or NHL ready) top6 center.

- goal scoring winger mid 20's or so that can play now

- move out Coyle, Brazeau, Korpisalo and maybe even Carlo for draft picks, prospects. In a vacuum I like what each one of these players brings but I think these spots could use a different look for the team as these guys make the lineup too redundant. Korp has been good but I'd like the team to explore what they can get if a team gets desperate.

Geekie -- Zacha -- Pasta

Marchand -- Lindholm -- New Winger

Frederic -- Poitras -- Lysell

Kopeke -- Beecher -- Kastelic

Lindholm -- McAvoy

Zadorov -- Peeke

Lohrei -- Wotherspoon
