Who knows. Id take a chance on him though, a change of scenery can be all a kid needs look at Espo, Ricky Middleton or Neely who came here or to a lesser extent a Peter McNabb. Point is a new lease on life could be all a player needs to get his career heading in the right direction, not saying Zegras is going to be any of those players but Id take him.

Id like to see a McTavish or Carlsson myself, but id take a chance on Zegras without question.

Feels like people are comparing end of his career Savard to beginning of his career Zegras.

Zegras is 23. When Savard was 23 he put up his first 65 point season, Zegras already has 2 of those. IMO, Zegras' struggles the last year and a half are injury related. If that's in the past I would love to have him on this team.

I'd be all over it, but it also feels like a move Sweeney wouldn't make. He could surprise, though. He should be seriously pursuing players like that.

DiPetro may be putting up solid numbers in Providence but unless someone gets hurt (knock on wood that doesn't happen) there is simply no reason to entertain a call up at this point. Boston has 2 goalies for the price of one (Bobrovsky in FL) and Price in Montreal (who isn't even playing). Next year, Shesterkin is going to cost about the same as our TWO goalies combined.

Using the cap hit as your argument is not wise.

We could easily get another backup to play 20-25 games for 1-1.3 mil/year who can give us similar numbers to Korpisalo. I hope the Bruins buy him out and use the savings to bolster our forward group.

I know Sweeney would never do it and the fact that probably nobody with a NMC/NTC would go to Columbus, but they should be a trade target for a Bruin re-tool. They have a deep prospect pool and at every turn they face a setback. Marchenko just broke his jaw and is out 6-8 weeks. No doubt with them being in the playoff mix they'll be buyers.

Given that he had to carry the team when Swayman was out and that he's been solid when we needed him to be, he's earned his contract this season. Name me some goalies with decent NHL experience (10+ games) that would cost under $1.3 mil with similar, if not better numbers than Korpi and maybe I'll entertain the idea of trading Korpi. I won't be buying him out.

3. Are we really really sure it would be a “oh just come back in the summer” situation? That just seems naive.

1.- In what way is he providing leadership? It seems like there’s been more distractions than leadership.
2. What makes you think he has a few more years? I’m not saying he doesn’t have another good year, but at what price for a guy way on the wrong side of 35 in decline.
3. Would we really want him back? I don’t necessarily want him back unless he’s willing to sign at a low cost and one year deal.


Brads been a great and controversial Bruin and his #63 definitely should hang in the rafters in the future. That said, it’s time to take the best deal out there at the deadline and move on.

Coyle and carlo are not the problem with this team. Bad signings is where you should start.

Not much you can do about the signings, but Coyle and Carlo have certainly been
problems this year with their mediocre to poor play.

Another interesting tidbit from Mick Colageo last night was that he didn't think the Bruins viewed DiPietro as a potential NHL goalie, which is surprising because he's only 25, he's been lights out in Providence all year and he just won best goalie at the All Star Game...

He is going to be a FA, what do sign him for and for how long.

I am sure a couple year contract that is a one way deal, maybe a bit over a million gets a deal done. Unless he comes up and suddenly plays 10+ great games at the NHL level, no NHL team is going to break the bank to bring him in. Anywhere he goes he will have to compete for a roster spot in camp.

So Zegras becomes a chip. This ain’t like Zacha because it’s a chip for them to get better, not someone to get Haula, but similar in that it’s a good player that there isn’t room for to play in his natural position. I’m just not sure what the match is once they added Trouba.

Why they haven't been auditioning more of them pretty much all season is beyond me.

I would actually love to take measure on where DiPo is right now while also seeing if he can shame Swayman in so doing.

Only way this season gets entertaining is to turn the stretch drive into a humiliation ritual.

Have to think we'll finally miss the playoffs this year. With the race being so competitive, we just don't have the offensive horses to go on the kind of run needed to beat out the other teams. It would be a different story if Marchand were still a star-level player, but right now we are a first liner away from having a real shot of making it.

They wound up with a better team in front of him, do expect Sweeney to build a team , with limited picks, shit prospects, and no cap room, nothing he has done suggests that he is capable. he is good at over paying, nmc, and signing the wrong players. please do not respond because you will convince me that they are not overpaying for goaltending, when they need help in front of them.

No, but if they move out someone else, like whatever Frederic is going to ask for, for example, it can go towards that end. Fwiw, Dom and others have suggested that Korpi might be moved in the Summer for assets- he's rebuilt his value and $3m is probably too much to spend on a backup who is going to play ~30 games.

Espo was a pretty good hockey player before he got here, and Bobby Hull was pissed that the Blackhawks traded him. Middleton walked into a buzzsaw for a coach and that was all Middleton needed, the Bruins with their coaching in shambles, there is no such buzzsaw, he went to Vegas, because he was to mean. Neely and Zegras should not be mentioned in the same breath.

Dom came out and said a source of his,had said Sweeney and Verbeek have been talking, so that as well spurred the speculation.

If its reliable, maybe they are taking offers, but I doubt it says they are desperately looking to offload him. Which is what the question was- you said desperately offload and I still don't know where you got that from.
