Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XIII

Speaking with more than one source, I do get the sense the Bruins have kept tabs on the situation with the Nashville Predators. As I wrote about last week, the Predators are preparing to sell off some pieces – both in the way of rentals and those with a year left on their deals – between now and the trade deadline. While I can’t speak to any specific player the Bruins may have had interest in, one source did say the Bruins are “looking at center and some skill on the wing.”

It’s unclear what exactly the future holds for the Bruins and if they do actually embark on a retool, but I don’t get the sense that it will be strictly gutting their own roster. Bruins management is clearly keeping tabs on available players around the league and seem prepared to pounce at the opportunity to “improve their team,” as one person said to me. A “retool” is subjective, and in the Bruins’ case, it may just be a bit of a roster overhaul while trying to remain competitive.
Marchessault is mentioned in the article. I wonder if the Predators would be willing to move Lauzon.

"A “retool” is subjective, and in the Bruins’ case, it may just be a bit of a roster overhaul while trying to remain competitive."

That quote is why I asked the question, 'what does a re-tool mean to you?" at the start of this thread.

I think most fans think there's a selling off players for picks component, but I think the Bruins look at it more like hockey trades that shake up the roster. Maybe they're trades they wouldn't normally attempt for fear of upsetting a winning team, but this year there's no such restriction.

They don't find a legit top line centre in this plan they will be just spinning wheels in mud.

Dynamic duo Don & Cam can take a lesson from Whalers whats needed when doing these blockbusters. Forget overpaid 3rd liners, 2nd pair d-men or 3rd/4th line prospects. Its 1st unit players you need to trade for elite players and Bruins has just 3 of those thst have such a market value. And from my point of view McAvoy is the one they should have offered and go after Rantanen, no matter the cost.

They waste Pasta prime and that small Cup-window, that could open with wise moves, while missing these changes like Rantanen when they are obsessed chasing grit and size like Miller.
