I'm in no rush to move Zacha or Geekie. Both are the right age, like it or not Zacha being close to Pastrnak matters (plus they do play well together). Geekie is the 2nd best shooter on this team and they need better shooters. Untouchable no but I'm not looking to move him either.
The rest I'm fine with moving out. Brad is a special case, not so straightforward. I'm perfectly fine if this is Coyle, Beecher, Peeke and Frederic's last seasons here.
Specifically on Carlo, he's not a bad player but I also don't think he's as good as some make him out to be either. A bit of an analytic darling.. I'm not a fan of expected goals whatever. As a fan, I'm a bit tired of watching him, he is limited in many respects. They've tried for many years now to win with McAvoy/Carlo as RD 1 and 2 and I think it's time to change. I don't think he fits well with either Lohrei or Zadorov and limits flexibility in how they pair up their D. Can't count on Hampus to pair up with Carlo forever. 9 years and almost 700 games with the same team is a good run for a defensive D-man, I don't see anything wrong with simply wanting to see some change with the 2nd pair RD after all this time. He's not about to go elsewhere and start racking up Norris trophies or complimenting top pairs. We know what he is.
The Bruins got a good player when they signed Geekie.Sign me up for a reasonably priced long term Geekie extension.
Zadorov wasn't on the ice for any even strength goals against yesterday. It seems like the people who didn't like the signing are the ones who constantly point to him as a problem.
Lohrei, McAvoy and Carlo have all been on the ice for more goals against at even strength, and at this point Zadorov has played more minutes than any D on the team. He's also been on the ice for 7 more goals than he's allowed. The only other D above water in that regard is McAvoy who's up 2.
On the PK, Carlo has been on the ice for 27 goals against, Zadorov 16, Lindholm and McAvoy 13 and 11 (in about half the PK ice time).
Zadorov is not perfect but as others have said, he's the least of our problems.
He certainly appears to have turned the corner, as have David and Pavel. The Bruins got a good player when they signed Geekie.
We need Jesus on this teamIsn't that the report card?
Think about a strong team culture built, doubtless painstakingly, over twenty plus years.
Do you really want this character?
Do you really want baggage laden J.T. Miller, who is presently playing terrible hockey, BTW?
Not me.
If they believe Brad will bring back significant return, which he can, and if Marchand is ammenible, that unhappy option warrants serious consideration.
So do all trade possibilities.
*All trade possibilities.*
Beyond this, as Milbury suggests, finding out what they have in their prospects should be equally paramount.
And not for a single game so your parents can say they saw you play 11 minutes in the NHL. Or unceremoniously yanked around like Marc McLaughlin.
What, exactly, is going on here?
Jesus Christ.
My answer to your question is that I am not seeing what you are seeing, and the coaching staff is not seeing what you are seeing, and the front office is not seeing what you're seeing. Our goalies have a 91.79 save percent with Zadorov on the ice.I continue to pose the question: why does Nikita appear to be freelancing out there, seemingly oblivious to, or uninterested in, what I can only assume is his primary responsibility: clearing the net of unwanted visitors through physical intimidation.
Why has this issue persisted?
Why haven't Joe Sacco & Jay Leach addressed the problem forcefully and unequivocally with the player? If they have, the message clearly isn't getting across.
Where are Sweeney and Neely in all of this?
An apparent inability or, worse, unwillingness to corral Zadorov and compel him to fulfill the very basic requirements of his assignment is baffling & disconcerting.
What is going on?
You're having an awful assessment is what's going on. Zadorov is the only D actually clearing the crease. Sometimes Peeke. Wotherspoon tries to.I have read and heard about these statistics. They are encouraging.
Loved the Zadorov signing at the time, only to be deflated by his Human Penalty Machine play.

What is going on?
Not quite. In a standard box+1, if the puck is at the point, the wing zips out to pressure him and the center is the second layer in case that wing gets beat. He reads the play to see if he can pick off a pass to the slot or a dump off to a player on the half-wall. The C doesn't go out that high (I tell my C's not to go out higher than the top of the circle), but it still pulls the C out a bit. So if the other team's D are good at getting pucks through, it's still a 2on2 at the net.I'm not one to know a ton about the X's and O's, but in that same scenario doesn't this mean that you have the advantage down low, given they have 2 guys max and you'll have 3 since the C stays low? Seems like they should be able to beat this by creating odd man situations down low to gain possession quickly
I would like to see them stick with the Marchand-Coyle-Poitras line for 10 games. They have chemistry and are getting scoring chances. The Pasta line and the 4th line from the beginning of the year seem good.
It’s the other combinations.
Can we build 2 more lines with what we have?
We need some help.
We need a trade or 2.
I am starting to think that Miller and/Pettersson are not coming. Just not enough to get either player and too much competition.
I think I will just continue coming here and see what happens…
We need Jesus on this team.

Zadorov was all over Tkachuk tonight. He repeatedly didn't let him get to pucks at the net, he repeatedly didn't let him get to rebounds... Tkachuk was so frustrated he took a 10 minute misconduct at the end of the game because he got owned and couldn't handle it.
I don't know what else to say. I mean, there are times, like on the PK, when they want the D to block shots and take away passing lanes and not get tied up with guys in front (because that just creates a double screen), so maybe you're seeing that and thinking why is that being allowed, but that's a system thing.
Am I wrong or didn't @PlayMakers say that Montgomery tried to change the system?Totally agree. Not sure if it was you or someone else posted a video where Debour was explaining how long to get a new system in place, but he said it took several months at the very least. They can't afford to have that drag out to maybe a full season trying to get their new system in place with an old coaching staff not truly familiar with how the system works.
Frank Seravalli says the Bruins are a dark horse to acquire J.T. Miller.
"You know, I haven't heard a lot of people talking about the Boston Bruins. Their need for a top-end center has been well documented... I do believe that the Bruins have kept very close tabs on the Miller situation with the Canucks. I would term them as a team lurking in the weeds right now - to try and monitor those prices. I wouldn't be surprised, if this continues to linger on closer to the March 7th deadline, that [the Bruins] are a team that could remain in the mix."
Monty did try. I don't know why it didn't work. I don't know if the players couldn't get it or if the coaches (who have been teaching Julien's system for 10+ years) couldn't teach it, but for whatever reason it was an abject disaster.Am I wrong or didn't @PlayMakers say that Montgomery tried to change the system?
Then he probably felt that these players couldn't
or wouldn't play it the way he expected them to?
Or, did he just want to go home to St. Louis so he
simply stopped trying?
Anyway, yeah this crew doesn't seem like they want to
change and God knows they don't seem able or open to do it.
Why is he freelancing? My answer is he is not.Fine.
You may dismiss them, but Haggerty, Colageo and, I believe, the Herald's Steve Conroy, have posed the same question.
I am not a Nikita Zadorov hater. Quite the opposite, if he plays the way he's capable of playing.
You, and others, still have not answered the question.
Why is he allowed to freelance when he should be in front of the net, clearing it?
Perhaps there are fancy stats. An eye test I am unaware of.
But I see what I see, blinkered though the vision.
I see a player who is not disciplined, nor interested in disciplined play.
Sounds like NOBODY "got it." That includes Sacco the other Assistant Coaches and the players.Monty did try. I don't know why it didn't work. I don't know if the players couldn't get it or if the coaches (who have been teaching Julien's system for 10+ years) couldn't teach it, but for whatever reason it was an abject disaster.
