Couldn’t agree more. We got so wound up about a goalie getting run and other cheap Florida antics that we let them get into our heads. Fans included. That’s exactly when you end up doing stupid stuff.

Florida’s forward group flat out out worked us for the last 2 years, and we responded by getting slower (both skating AND puck moving). We sure showed them. Zadorov sure has em quaking in their boots.
I think the most annoying part of this is that Sweeney and Nelly both did identify the real issue after we got bounced last playoffs. Both said some version of this team need to get faster and needs more scoring depth, I think Monty said the same thing too.

And then pretty much all of their offseason moves say that they didn't actually prioritize those things. Like even small things like letting Boqvist walk for nothing when you had his RFA right and then going out and signing Tufte and Jones. The former is on pace for 20 goals for the big scary Panthers btw while the latter two are in Providence.

Bennett says hi

We might not like it but they are winners. Best asset management team in hockey.
But that’s not germane to the conversation at all.

If you want to tailor your team to them (and I don’t believe you ever do that for one team), you would do the opposite of signing Nikita Zadorov.

Let’s see what the Habs have after this stretch - right into the California swing after that too:

Islanders fan here . I would greatly appreciate you making the playoffs to beat Toronto again . I see you are right around 8th place give or take and also injuries have hit you . Any interest in Nelson , Palmieri both to be UFA or Pageau, Cizikas . We have Pelech, Mayfield, Pulock on the back end maybe for you . If yes we want picks and good prospects and I realize cap is an issue so money coming back may have to happen … if not interested that’s cool. Just a cold day on Long Island and I’m sure colder even more by you ..Cheers all. Good luck the rest of the way

Hope I put this in the correct thread.. I always feel we owe you for taking Rolston and Mottau in the same trade they both sucked

Question: isn't the 2025 draft class considered to be weak/top heavy? If so, maybe instead of draft picks we target unproven drafted prospects with pedigree if we are in sell mode? Or sign our UFAs and trade them with term next year ...as long as we don't handout NMC and NTC like candy. Anyway, might not be the best year to have a lot of draft picks in late round 1 and beyond from what I understand

You said they were all rats that’s wand not tough. That’s what I was referring to. I 100% agree we need a D that can move the puck when the forecheck gets heavy. Watch Carlo he can’t handle the forcheck. With 4:55 left he wasn’t pressured and flipped the puck right to the SJ Dman.

The Islanders honestly? They have SO MANY players that I love.

I don’t know about any specifics about what would work for the Bruins. Personally, I don’t see us being able to do enough to even make the post-season. But yeah… I like your team a lot.

Can't beat Florida by trying to beat them down, as satisfying as that might be for a fan, because it plays right into their hands. You take penalties and they get what they wanted by agitating in the first place. Now that doesn't mean you don't hit them whenever you can - you do and guys like 47 are great for wearing them down without taking calls. But they're not going to fight you and they'll keep doing the same sh*t whether you're big or not, while having the offensive talent to beat anybody.

Better off pulling Bennett type sneaky dirty plays. He's taken several players out across multiple teams the last few playoffs with subtle (sometimes not so subtle) cheap shots. He won't answer for it, and does it again. It's worked. So return the favor whenever you can, and get some guys who can put the puck in the back of the net while you're at it.

I don’t believe Sweeney will be doing any adding this year. Unless he can bring in someone with term, no rentals. At least that’s what I’d like to see. Just in case he does have a different view will you forward this to Lou and have him send it to Sweeney?

Move on from him before his value plummets. He's on another planet this year and not in a good way.

He has the same issue as a bunch of the guys on this team.

He is a very good role player with strengths and weaknesses. He is Hal Gill with modern skating. Which is a better player than Hal Gill. He is at his best being the defensive helper while someone else drives play.

With Lindholm out, he hasn’t been able to be a role player in his role.

You can make the case for a bunch of guys with similar issues and most of it stemming from the team having too many role players and not enough drivers of play.

Sam Bennett act has caught up with him. Opposing coaches and referees are pointing out/watching him

Opposing players are targeting him

He looks and is playing like shit

Last 20 games

0 Goals

Last 16 games

0 Goals 1 Assist

Also

Verhaughe is not playing well this year

I read today, that Alvin turned down a deal with the rags that included lafreniere. If that’s the case I don’t see him going anywhere.

I think it was chytll lindgren and unprotected 1st this year. Rags backed off.

I would in a second to be honest. As long as there was winning the lottery protection on the pick and I felt like McAvoy would be back soon and Lindholm was a few weeks away.
Zacha has a lot of value at 4.75 mil for 50 points. Unprotected 1st no thanks.

With Lafreniere's new contract kicking in, Alvin should view that deal as a coupon for an ebola burger.

Curious if the bruins do "retool" would a trade with Dallas be a possibility? Something like Marchand and Carlo for stankoven and a 1st. Dallas has the cap space.
Dallas makes sense, they have some pretty good prospects also in Mavrick Bourque and Liam Bichsel. The wild and Billy Gurein would be ideal as far as having some nice prospects maybe Guerin would deal us Zeev Buium or Ryder Ritchie, pipe Dream I know. Colorado would be the other team if the Bruins do re-tool, im sure Marchand would be interested in going to.

Personally though I think the bruins are going to make it, but that changes day to day.lol

If I were to build the perfect center for David Pastrnak, it would look a lot like JT Miller. He's big, fast and physical. He forechecks hard and is a play driver who wins battles and sets up scoring chances out of the corners. He's a playmaker first, but he also has a wicked shot and can beat goalies clean from distance. He's good on face-offs. He back checks hard and he's fast enough to catch guys. He's a left shot who plays the opposite elbow on the power play and has a good 1-timer. He's intense and plays with fire which I'd like to think would help keep Pasta engaged. I think he could be our Sam Bennett.

My reservations are his age, his off-ice issues and the fact that it is exceedingly rare for a team with two top6 centers over 30 to win a Cup.

Maybe that last reservation has already been solved, if Lindholm sticks on the 3rd line. Either way, I've decided that's not really JT Miller's problem. If you can add a 100 point center, you do it. You can always figure out what to do with the other guy afterwards.

The off-ice issues are scary too, but as others have mentioned, they have two guys who played with him. I could see a scenario where the Bruins ask for their input and are satisfied that whatever happened in Vancouver won't happen here.

Lastly, the age is an issue. Age declining curves are real, as are the handful of the guys who beat them. Miller is 31 and will be 36 on the last year of his deal. I think it's safe to say he won't be a point per game center by the end of it, but he probably doesn't have to be. The core of this team is 26-28 so their window is probably the next 2-3 years, and I do think Miller can give you top6 center for at least 2 of those years. If he starts to fade in year 3 or 4 he has a game that will translate further down the lineup and he can play any position so there should still be utility there, and an $8m cap hit with a $125m cap is probably going to be 3rd liner money by then.

So, long story short (too late) I would take a chance on Miller. I can see why some people love the idea and I can see why some people hate the idea. I don't think either side is 'wrong' but for me, I think the potential negatives can be overcome, and I fully expect him to spark some bubble team to an amazing second half, and be a driver for them again next year. If the price is right, why not us?
+1. Miller is a great player and we need a #1 C badly. There's some baggage but worth the risk
