The Bruins will probably have to choose a retool for this team that is going nowhere and showing nothing encouraging this season. If retool there, according to you what are the player that Sweeny will choose to go away to rebuild a decent team and what can he get for these coins to exchange.

For me:
- Trade Merchant: 1st pick + B prospect
(bring him back during the summer)
- Trade Coyle: 2nd pick
- Trade Brazeau: 3rd pick
- Trade Carlo: 1st pick
-Wotherspoon : 5rd pick

That's the problem for me too; the last several years the Bruins built a solid regular season team. The NHL playoffs then play a completely different game and toss the regular season rules aside.

SO, Boston builds a playoff team this year and now have to claw their way into the playoffs playing that style and hoping the management team can get them scoring help that will pull them into the playoffs.

The way Ottawa, Montreal and the Rangers are playing right now should have them worried.
I get what you're saying, as I thought the same way coming into the season, but I dont think you can look at this team midway through and still call it a team built for the playoffs.

They are going to get dominated by any team with scoring depth, regardless of what style they want to play.

Your Marchand deal is probably about right and of course that would be a late first. All the others are a a round or three too high.

Unless you don’t believe what they were doing was building a “playoff team”. They keep learning the wrong lessons from losing to Florida.

When I look back at the start of the season, I wonder how many of the calls made against them awarding PP's to the opponents 'are let go' in the playoffs? How much more clutching and grabbing is allowed and the play in general slows down.

If the definition of a Playoff Team is a team that can consistently generate scoring chances, then No…..they sure as hell didn’t build a Playoff Team over the summer.

They took a team that struggled to generate shots and score in the post season last year, and made it worse offensively. All you had to do was count the goals we shipped out, vs the goals we brought in and you could have seen this coming from a mile away.

Riddle me that one, Batman….

Penguins apparently having a fire sale and willing to retain on Karlsson. Could help solve some of our PP issues. Maybe move Carlo in another trade for top 6 help and bring Karlsson in?

Don't love his age but for the right retention surely it's worth a try?

Fair enough. I thought the same when the Canucks faced Edmonton and that came down to a 3-2 game 7. I and I believe this team is currently (with the addition of an actual 1st line C) constructed very similar to last years' Vancouver.

Completely fair lol, just trying to get a bit creative to fix our problems, I know there's a lot of reasons to stay away
I love the effort to try to turn the ship around with a trade, but this team isn’t getting fixed at this deadline. We should be sellers, not buyers.

Move some expiring contracts and use this coming summer to find a permanent HC and try to rectify some of the mistakes we made last summer.

Even if we do somehow grab that 8th spot, this team is cannon fodder once the playoffs start. Other teams in the East gonna be making moves to get better too. We shouldn’t be one of them.

You shouldn’t be building your team to beat one team like they have been doing with the Panthers. But if you do, you don’t beat the Panthers by getting bigger and tougher. You get faster and get defensemen who can handle a forecheck.

Couldn’t agree more. We got so wound up about a goalie getting run and other cheap Florida antics that we let them get into our heads. Fans included. That’s exactly when you end up doing stupid stuff.

Florida’s forward group flat out out worked us for the last 2 years, and we responded by getting slower (both skating AND puck moving). We sure showed them. Zadorov sure has em quaking in their boots.

People seem to think Florida is tough and heavy. Theyre not. Theyre rats. Big difference.

But they’re tall and very fast.
