Only point is - taxes aren't the reason the Bruins are struggling.I assume if I wrote a counter argument against the millionaires tax that would constitute politics no? Then what are we doing here?

That's the problem for me too; the last several years the Bruins built a solid regular season team. The NHL playoffs then play a completely different game and toss the regular season rules aside.I still like them both, too. I've been disappointed in Lindholm thus far, though. I just hope we get to see if they elevate for the playoffs- right now I am feeling about 50/50 on whether they get in.
Unless you don’t believe what they were doing was building a “playoff team”. They keep learning the wrong lessons from losing to Florida. That's the problem for me too; the last several years the Bruins built a solid regular season team. SO, Boston builds a playoff team this year and now have to claw their way into the playoffs playing that style and hoping the management team can get them scoring help that will pull them into the playoffs.
The way Ottawa, Montreal and the Rangers are playing right now should have them worried.
Remember, there's literally no downside to signing trash picked up at the side of the road. You may find treasure but if not it hasn't cost you anything!I didn’t care for either signing at the time and was pretty vocal ahead of it that I didn’t want either player.
Playing Tyler Johnson, Oliver Wahlstrom, and Vinny Lettieri over Lysell is just the icing on the cake.

Supposedly the deal for Miller that fell through on Saturday was Lindgren, Chytil and a 1st. Friedman thinks there's another team out there that's muddying the water.
Maybe Miller doesn't want to come here, but it's hard to think the Bruins couldn't beat that offer. Lindgren has really fallen off and Rangers can't wait to get rid of him. I've always liked Chytil but he's currently their 4th line C and missed 72 games last year (and all playoffs) with lingering concussion issues, and a 1st.
More like Carlo, Geekie and a 1st.I think they were trying, though. They built the team Cam has been calling for a few seasons now: need to be bigger, tougher, heavier. It seems like he said that each time, anyway. They got what he wanted and it isn't working.
So for the Bruins that looks like what? Carlo, Poitras, and a 1st? Roughly? No thanks. I have David Backes PTSD here.
Mcavoy? I wanted him after Chara, but I’d rather stick with Captain Chaos than have Mcavoy anywhere near a leadership role. You and the rest of the board will crash and burn if I tell you
More like Carlo, Geekie and a 1st.
Considering that is the framework, what is the Bruins comparable that beats it?Supposedly the deal for Miller that fell through on Saturday was Lindgren, Chytil and a 1st. Friedman thinks there's another team out there that's muddying the water.

I only make that deal if the Canucks are retaining $2M on Miller. Geekie should be seen as a far better trade asset than Chytil right now and he’s been one of the few good things about the team this season.More like Carlo, Geekie and a 1st.

If a retool is what’s needed here why trade for JT Miller? If a retool is what is needed here, then why move Geekie? He's poised (may not get there) to be a solid top 6 forward that can do 50 points and play a grinding wear you down game, and he's still young.
Because the the biggest toolIf a retool is what’s needed here why trade for JT Miller?
I don’t like the idea of moving him either. If a retool is what is needed here, then why move Geekie? He's poised (may not get there) to be a solid top 6 forward that can do 50 points and play a grinding wear you down game, and he's still young.

Yeah, that's my version of a 'beat it' deal. I agree, Carlo is better than Lindgren and Geekie is better than Chytil, but similar age, similar versatility and same points per 82.I only make that deal if the Canucks are retaining $2M on Miller. Geekie should be seen as a far better trade asset than Chytil right now and he’s been one of the few good things about the team this season.
More like Fredric, Carlo(who is way better than lindgren) and a 1stI think they were trying, though. They built the team Cam has been calling for a few seasons now: need to be bigger, tougher, heavier. It seems like he said that each time, anyway. They got what he wanted and it isn't working.

Rather have Misa.Agree
Bruins get in bottom 8 it’s a lock they get Hagens; Betman will take care of his buddy and Chicago and SJ will understand it’s good for the league
There’s our center we need
I think Reinhart should be in Florida's top 4.I get everyone going back and forth on the Miller situation but I think he is worth the gamble if the price is right.
I remember JFresh putting out a top 100 NHL forward list at the end of 2024. Obviously Pasta and Marchand were high up on it but believe it or not Elias snuck in at 100. I think he would be well outside of that now.
According to the list, if u take any NHL contenders top 4 forwards they are significantly better than the Bruins and it's not even close.
Florida - Barkov, Tkachuk, Verhaeghe, Bennet
Oilers - McDavid, Drai, Hyman, Nuge
Devils - Hughes, Bratt, Hischier, Meier,
Lightning - Kuch, Point, Guentzel, Hagel
Leafs - Mathews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares
Avs - Mackinnon, Rantanen, Nichuskin, Lehkonen
Jets - Connor, Ehlers, Scheifele, Vilardi
Dallas - Hintz, Robertson, Duchene, Johnston
Hurricanes - Aho, Necas, Svechnikov, Jarvis
Vegas - Eichel, Stone, Hertl, Karlsson
I could see someone making the argument against VGK but remember they had Marchesault during their cup run. That was a great team.
In any regard, that is 10 really good contending teams with a better forward group than us. The Bruins have 2 top 100 forwards while most have 4...
It's obviously a team game and the Bruins have a really good defensive unit and goaltending but they desperately need a high end forward.
J.T Miller would make a significant impact to the forward group and would put them on par with these types of teams. It's him or find the next guy to crack this list (think a Zegras type)
Why is that? He works his ass off and hold the D togather and by all reports he's a great kid. I cant see it being anyone else, Maybe Pasta but I highly doubt it.Mcavoy? I wanted him after Chara, but I’d rather stick with Captain Chaos than have Mcavoy anywhere near a leadership role.
Coyle + Carlo+ one of Lysell or Merkulov, not moving that first, especially for an almost 32 yr old making $8M.Considering that is the framework, what is the Bruins comparable that beats it?
I’d say Carlo beats Lindgren as an asset. Similar struggles this season, but Carlo is a right shot and signed for two years after this.
But after that, I’m not sure. Chytil at $4.5M/yr almost seems negative value at this point. But the Bs still have to move some cap for it to work.
I think Reinhart should be in Florida's top 4.
Agree I know they are hated as much as the Leafs and Habs on here, but guys like Bennett, Barkov and Reinhart would be loved here, if they played for the Bruins.Annoying how good Floridas forwards are
He actually makes 5 for the top 100 and Cirelli makes 5 for the Lightning. I tried my best, it was a lot lolI think Reinhart should be in Florida's top 4.
