Let the Geek & perhaps Peeke go. Frederic without question.

Unfortunately, Charlie Coyle & John Beecher, who simply can't find the net, as much as I've rooted for him.

A "mid" prospect, as Evan Marinofsky might say. They should, uh, figure out what they have in Lysell & Merkulov and get on with it.

Poop or get off the pot, to paraphrase Nixon in another context.

If they defer, they defer. I would investigate, confirm in preliminary fashion and go from there.

I don't want to trade Brando. Many do. Most don't quite understand how good he is, in his quiet way. You can't make a player something they're not, generally speaking, as Butch observed when speaking of Carlo. He's not a bruiser. He's an intelligent, conservative, solid D with a long reach and a disruptive stick.

Keep him if you can. If not, not.

Tootles,

:dooney::wedgie:

Not Mason, not Mathew.
Why are you trading Geekie? Developing great chemistry with 88\18.

Frederic has turned his game around. keep both if $$ is reasonable.

Carlo and Coyle had zero to do with the lead the Bruins had but had a shit ton to do with losing it.

How much longer do have to watch these two stink up the joint and soil their pants in crunch time. two soft minder happy go lucky guys.

I still can't get over Coyle getting bullied by that no name, not one or twice but three times before he responded with a bear hug.

Get him out of here, even give a pick to do it if necessary

I would re-sign Geekie and Frederic for 4-4.75M
I hope those two will be part of the core for a few more years. Both will be signed. Maybe Freddy leaves because of the $ he will be able the earn on the open market.

My interest in trading Carlo isn't cause I don't value him, it's cause I think he gets you a really good return and I'm not sure he's gonna be a guy they should look to extend beyond his current contract because of his concussion history. Replacing a top 4 RD is gonna be hard, don't get me wrong. But this team needs to add so much up front to get back into contention that I think they kinda have to make some moves that might hurt a bit.
Agree.

Carlo is one concussion away for being out of the league. That is unfortunate.

However, his value is, as it were, undervalued by most.

I think there's another way to address the derth of offense.

If they trade Brandon, they trade Brandon.

But don't mistake what you are losing when you do.

He is also a leader. Like Charlie Coyle, his contributions go largely unnoticed and unappreciated. He is a leader on this team.

I know I come down hard on David and Chuckie, but they are not very good leaders, though they wear the A.

Happy-Go-Lucky and Trying Too Hard aren't especially effective as leaders.

Those trades rarely happen through the season and it's because most teams still have a shot at the playoffs and are not yet selling and less to do with cap space. That's what parity is doing.

Edmonton could have some interest in Justin Brazeau
IF you trade the 1st and have space

Hmm off the top of my head the last 2 maybe 3 years I didn’t fact check everything Horvat and Hertl I mentioned these two cause of center position but I’m sure there’s others.

I'll be honest I'm a little sick of hearing how great the leadership is on this team when it feels like the other teams have pretty consistently wanted it more then us in big moments over the past few years. I value Carlo's contributions on the ice, but the leadership stuff just isn't doing it for me anymore with anyone on the roster.

I still think TF should go. He is only better because he is getting some top line time, and his improved play will not last. (/you are kidding yourself if you think it will.)

Geekie should stay. He has good chemistry with 88 and is young enough where he won't be too expensive. He is also a consistent player save the first 20 games this year.

Carlo should go, decent rh d man, but one concussion away and just a bad fit here now. He is decent when paired with a quicker d and i would much, much rather move and replace Zadorov, but that is not realistic.

Combined? Sure. Each? Maybe Geek, but Frederic no way. He's been a lot better lately, but the bar was pretty low. He's playing like a steady 4th liner right now on pace for 24 points and with his better play, he is not exactly lighting it up on the scoreboard. You hope he can get back to the upward trend he was showing in past seasons, but a $4m+ and some kind of term is a bit of a risk on him. He's always been inconsistent (I think his rookie year was his best consistency-wise) but this year the off night are way outnumbering the on nights in total.

Well, it's a depleted line up in many respects, including leadership.

Look back to 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.

Comparatively, the Bruins were loaded with leadership *throughout the roster.*

Not coincidentally, Peter Chiarelli constructed those teams.

Draw your own conclusions.

I’d trade Mac or Carlo for the right return to strengthen the top 6. It could allow you to bump Coyle into the bottom six where he thrives
You want a youngish 2nd pair RD, older top 6 F and #1 pick for #73. Look for a DNQ team.

From Fluto:

I get we're missing guys, but that is a putrid lineup.

Yes it is. But given what we have to work with, there is a lot of sense to that lineup...

L1: Hopefully Wahlstrom is just a place holder and Zacha will be back tomorrow.

L2: Lehtieri was Poitras' RW in Providence. They have some chemistry.

L3: This is where Lindholm belongs. He is not a top6 forward right now. He also had chemistry with Coyle (in that Coyle did the heavy lifting defensively and Lindholm could be a little more free to play). Coyle and Frederic has always worked. That should be a good line.

L4: Brazeau deserves better IMO but if Zacha is coming back it doesn't make sense to disrupt the rest of the lineup. Having JB on the 4th line helps them too.

Zadorov-Peeke are your two best, healthy defensemen.
Spoon - Carlo has been an effective pair. Carlo needs a puck moving partner.
Lohrei-Oyster is scary. I would prefer they play Callahan here, even if it means one of them has to play their off-side. These two guys together must give Sway nightmares.

We should poll the fanbase: Who feels good about the cap going up with Harvard Sweeney still at the helm?

Allan Walsh projects the cap to be at 105+ million three years from now. That's 27 million higher than it is currently.

Do we trust Donny Deals shopping for more UFAs?

I don’t have an issue with Sweeney in free agency for the most part. And he’s made some solid deals at the trade deadline acquiring talent for mostly picks. Hampus Lindholm was a great trade. I actually think Elias Lindholm will adjust and be a solid 2nd line center here. I’m also okay with Zadarov signing even if he is slightly overpaid he brings a much needed element to this team.

My issue with Sweeney is drafting. My next problem with him is the lack of hockey trades. When good players have been available (Eichel Hertl Stone heck even Kakko) he is never reported to be involved in those deals. He seems to be stuck in only trading at the trade deadline. I just feel he lacks creativity. It’s now caught up with him in a big way.
