Thanks for clarifying. I thought that's how it worked. I'll look into it on my ownI'm sure Dom will correct me if I am wrong, but I am 98% certain you can't bank cap space when a person is on LTIR

They also called Poitras up and Coyle wasn't in the morning skate lines. With Mac going on IR, they call up Callahan to carry the 7 D as they prefer, but it looks like they had enough cap space available to do that without moving Hampus to LTIR (you are right, the LTIR only kicks in once the cap limit is exceeded so no banking with it). So why now with the LTIR which, with Callahan up will give them most of Hampus' salary in cap space if they need it. Precursor to a deal in the works?
Yeah just realized they needed to fit Poitras' salary alsoThey also called Poitras up and Coyle wasn't in the morning skate lines.
Being the head coach of the Bruins is a lot more prestigious than you believe IMO.
“Suck” is harsh I’ll admit. He doesn’t suck. He’s a great #3 center, an average #2 center, and simply not a #1 center.E. Lindholm doesn't suck! And he's a 1C whether anyone likes it or not! Get over it!

EDIT NVM, have to throw Poitras' salary in there too, so that would have brought them over the cap.

The “suck” part is his contract. Hes paid to be a player he’s not.
Without Hampus and 73, we might as well be sellers before everyone else starts moving players....
It's also Cam and Don's excuse for sucking. Mr Burns will let them slide.Without Hampus and 73, we might as well be sellers before everyone else starts moving players....
It's excuse material. 'Look at all these injuries! What? Oh, that top six? Ignore that, focus on the injuries!'Bruins Announce Roster Transactions | Boston Bruins
BOSTON – Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, January 14, the following roster transactions: The team has recalled forward Matt Poitras and defenseman Michael Callahan from Providence; placed forward Mark Kastelic on injured reserve (Date of Injury: Jan. 9); placed...www.nhl.com
Bad news.
What do you think Detroit is offering?
All I can come up with is:That's what meant as a "for instance", but they have Edvinsson, Kasper, ASP, Danielson, Cossa all as more valuable young chips than the Bruins can offer. Just don't think the Bruins Zacha/Carlo/etc pieces can compete given that so many of the Detroit guys are ready now or just about. I don't even think what the Bruins can offer is Stuart/Sturm/Primeau good. I just don't see a headliner for a deal for EP.

Tank, tank, tank. Make a mess for Misa!!!McAvoy is on the IR. Hampus placed on LTIR. Poitras and Callahan up.
Whoever left him off team Canada should be removed from any hockey decisions forever.I am sitting home here on sofa & even I questioned that .Scored his 35th last night.Tank, tank, tank. Make a mess for Misa!!!
He is not close to what Coyle or Zacha provided the B's last year.Underperforming for what we hoped we'd get for sure. You did say 'break the bank' about his contract, though, and they didn't really. It's an upper end contract yes, but salaries are overall rising across the league as the cap goes up. What he's getting is not a lot more than Coyle got on his deal in relative terms if the cap rises as expected next season and Lindholm is a better player than Coyle. So, a little overpaid, like Coyle, but not egregiously so. And of course, if he bounces back after a poor start here, the deal is palatable.
Break the bank to me in this day and age is what MacAvoy got and up. Horrible if they had thrown Elias 9.5m per year LOL (remember some of the speculation about what he would command on the market before it happened?)
Sweeney would probably go off the board for late 2nd round prediction.Tank, tank, tank. Make a mess for Misa!!!
Detroit will have to send Copp and DeBrincat to make the $$ work. Then add Danielson and a #1.That's what meant as a "for instance", but they have Edvinsson, Kasper, ASP, Danielson, Cossa all as more valuable young chips than the Bruins can offer.
