Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XI

Geekie has 18 points in his last 24 games. That's a 31 goal, 62 point pace. He's making plays, playing physical, skating well, defending well, burying his chances... Yeah, it helps playing with Pasta but Zacha isn't scoring at a 30 goal pace.

I think we need to start thinking about him being a good fit there and an actual top6 forward.
The flip side of that (and I liked the assessment) is that if you were going to trade him, he now has your stat line and his value has never been higher in his career.

If you think you can sell him as a top six to someone in a deal based on the recent numbers, you strike now before his stat line looks more 'Coylish'.

yes, he came around and I see him as a versatile forward you can rely on. 3 years x 3.5 is what I would offer. With this Frederic is gone as I would only keep one of both.

He's definitely proving me wrong, the issue is will he keep it up? I really like him on his off wing though, think he sees the ice better and gets his shot off quicker there.

I’m with you here. If a team values him as a true top 6 I sell on that. He might be that guy, but I’d bet against it on a good team.

He's a 3rd liner and a good 3rd liner. Right now he's taking advantage of playing with one of the best offensive players in the world. Good for him !

He's a good player IMO but if he's in your top six I would not expect many deep runs in the playoffs. If he starts actually scoring 30 a year, then yes.

Alternatively, packaging him and pouncing on his value

I can't imagine the trade value of someone who might be emerging as a top6 forward is all that high.

On the other hand, he's not going to be expensive to re-sign, and having a top6 forward getting paid 3rd line money could be very valuable to Boston. Worst case, he reverts to being a versatile 3rd liner who's paid appropriately.

I've always felt that there was something there with his game, going back to his Seattle days. He looked there, and even last season, that he hadn't quite put it together, but it now looks like that is finally happening. The dude may have the best pure shot on the team. But even if he never emerges as a top 6 mainstay, he will remain a really good third line player for the next few seasons.

He has the pedigree of a scorer too.

He scored 90 points in the WHL his draft year.
He scored 17 goals and 27 points in 14 playoff games in his draft +1 year.
He scored 93 points in 130 AHL games and then 18 points in 19 playoff games.

It's taken him longer than most, which gives you reason to doubt him, but you also have to wonder if he hadn't been an expansion draft casualty would he have gotten there sooner.

Detroit was smart to getting Todd behind the bench. I think Donny should have grabbed him for the intern coaching move. I like sacco but I don't think he has it .
I’m thinking they gave it to Sacco, so the new GM can bring in his own guy.

Sweeney given enough of their money away.

I think it’s really up in the air. The Bruins get a DNQ and team Canada stumbles in the 4 nations, imo he’s as good as gone.
I'll bet Dnq still wont be enough. He has done some wonderful things to keep him on for at least another year. Found pillars in carlo sway mac. Great trades in Coyle zacha linus. Cheap solid signings of geekie brazzeau. Found some dynamite prospects in lohrei and poitras. Hes also done some bad drafting example in 2015 and bad signings example backes but no GM is perfect. I say he gets another shot regardless what happens this year.

I hope it's Lysell. The kid is flying down in Providence.

Geekie - Zacha - Pasta
Marsh - Lindy - Lysell
Freddy - Coyle - Brazeau

It works- move Wahlstrom down to the 4th line with Koepke and Kastelic. Beecher could use some time off (unless Kastelic is still hurt). It's the Bruins, though, so they probably stick him on the 4th line to get 9 minutes a night.

He's ready to get a good stretch of games to see what he can do at the NHL level. His speed can help the Bruins with zone entries, on the PP, and will open up the ice for Marchand and Lindholm. That line could really use someone that can distribute the puck, and Lysell can do that.
