Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XI

Prior to Pastrnak the Bruins last 50 goal scorer was Cam Neely in the 80’s. Elite goal scorers don’t grow on trees.

You trade Pastrnak and you’ll create a major hole. The entire team is underperforming. So picking on Pastrnak specifically and pushing to trade him is wild.
I’m not picking on him. Pettersson is younger, plays a position of need and has already hit 100 points. Pettersson is a blossoming superstar. I love pasta. It was difficult to write. I just feel like it would be a good hockey trade.

Honest question:

If Pastrnak was pacing for his regular goal/point totals and the Bruins were having a relatively successful season, would you still be lauding this idea?

Petterson isn't exactly the type that puts a team on his back and wills them to victory, he'd need help. You deal Pastrnak for him who's left to be his wingman? Zacha? A well past his prime Marchand?

Would make zero sense to deal Pastrnak for him. Put them together and you could have something, but can't see that ever happening.

How many times have you watched Pettersson play?

Here is how I see it. If Boston sends pasta it leaves a hole at rw. If Vancouver sends Pettersson for pasta it leaves a hole at centre for them. That’s why I included coyle as a second line option for Vancouver and garland as a rw to fill both holes created in this trade.

I love pasta. I just don’t see Vancouver sending their super star with out giving up a super star. They aren’t looking for futures. They want to win right now. Both teams in fact want to win now. I highly doubt Pettersson even gets moved. But if they are going to move him it will take a legit hockey trade not an ea sports trade.

Browsing the Vancouver board & the way they talk about their defence is almost exactly the way the offense is talked about here & other Bruins forums. A Boston-Vancouver swap just makes too much sense that I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet especially with both teams in slides.

I’ve also proposed mcavoy for Pettersson. Pettersson is the type of player that could solve the bruins centre position for a long time.

I've seen Pettersson play dozens of times, just strikes as a guy that needs more top forwards around him to help him with the work load. If things went south (and they would with the Bruins group of forwards) I could see Pettersson lose confidence and have some lengthy slumps. Just don't see this as a base for a good deal.

A long time ago - very early in the season, I proposed a McAvoy for Pettersson trade. I also had Vancouver include Myers and Boston include Coyle to make the money work and help both teams at their newly weakened positions.

I never followed up on the responses. I still think it is a bit larger than Laine for Dubois, or more accurately, Ryan Johansen for Seth Jones. Defence for Centre

EP would never score 110 with the #2 scorer in the 60s. Ever. EP is good. Very good. Pasta is the next level up, even when you include the positional difference.

Difference is that Nashville was dealing from a position of already having Weber, Josi, Ellis and Ekholm.

Serious question here, with the calendar Bs have til the 4 nations break, can they win 3 games? Maybe Buffalo, maybe Sharks, mabye...

This type of deal imo makes more sense than dealing Pasta in a deal for Pettersson.

Not really.
They haven’t been playing good , entered today on a 6 game losing streak and 9 times out of 10 if the play the way they did today, they lose.
Thanks for filling me in.

It’s weird to say they can’t beat anyone when they just beat someone regardless of the details.

NP

But the poster didn’t say they can’t beat anyone, they asked if they could win 3 more before the break.

An honest question considering the way this team been playing.

The season Pettersson scored 102 points he did it with Mikheyev and Kuzmenko. Kuzmenko had 74 points that season but hasn't had more than 25 points a season since. Mikheyev's career high is 32 points. The next season Pettersson played with those two again (more than any other combination anyway) and neither one of them had more than 31 points but Petterson still put up 89 points.
