Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XI

Didn't one of Pasta or Marchand say a few years back that they get into it on the bench a lot, but Bergeron was always there to reel them back in and shut it down?
So let's think about this. Based on this post Marchand hasn't ever been afraid to let Pasta know when he does something wrong, right? So why all of a sudden would he refuse to play with Marchy 11 years into his career because he was on him about his play? Makes less and less sense the more you think about it...

Nothing story. Rich Keefe and EEI are a clown show. Look at their track record and ratings. Nothing to this. And the dummy is double and tripling down on the story on his X account. Fake news.

The bottom line is none of us know what goes on inside the Bruins locker room. To me, it’s kind of a personal thing between teammates. People go at each other from time to time. It happens.

I think Pasta is a great talent. I also think he’s a very lazy player and I could definitely see Marchand getting on him for lack of hustle. As much as I like Brad Marchand, I have no idea if he’s captain material. He really never seemed like it to me. I also kind of think they gave it to him based on tenure alone.

I have no idea what any of the last two captains were/are like. I just know that when Big Z was captain, it seemed like we had a true leader. I say “seemed” because I really don’t know. When the man showed up for his team wearing a full shield, I referred to him as a warrior. I feel like we have missed his leadership when he skated off the ice the last time as a Bruin.

Okay, so it looks like Keefe was full of it. Glad to hear Marchand and Pasta address it. I believe them. Maybe they can take this kind of BS being thrown at them and use it as motivation to get their shit together as a team.

Right it or wrong it - sure feels like the season teeters on tomorrow afternoon.
I don't feel that way. I was listening to the Daily Faceoff podcast and they were talking about who's officially out of the playoffs in the East and Seravali made a great point. He basically said that, "given where teams are so bunched up, all it really takes is two good weeks. Look at how bad the Habs were, then they play 2 good weeks and they're in the playoff picture. Detroit, same thing. At this point I wouldn't even count Buffalo out. 2 good weeks and you're right back in the hunt."

So yeah, it sucks that they lost last night and it will suck if they lose tomorrow, but Seravali's right, two good weeks and they're back in a playoff spot.

I'm more worried, or curious is probably a better word, to see what, if anything will be the spark that ignites that run. Lindholm coming back? Poitras called up? Swayman getting his game back? A trade?

The impact of the captain is overrated as it is. There isn't a past captain in hockey history that could do anything with this talentless group of players. You could have Mark Messier in there and it wouldn't matter.

What have Kreider or Nelson ever won?

Sacco ain't the problem but he sure as shit ain't the solution either. Doesn't matter they aren't canning two coaches in one season.

Marchand as captain isn't the problem. A lack of talent and a flawed roster. That is the problem.
Any good captain needs some good followers. My guess is leading by example doesn't cut it with some of these guys. Too bad.

Who is GM in Vegas? I look at their roster and most of their core is made up of players they acquired via trade.

Theodore
Eichel
Stone
Barbashev
Hertl
Hanifin
Petriangelo

The same people who took the keefe report as gospel to slam Swayman are now saying no this isn’t true because they are two faves. I mean which is it?
So do we trust the room after they said both the Swayman negotiations and Marchand/Pastrnak "fighting" are untrue or Keefe? Who has the better track record?

Cups over Culture.

Gotta love that they get their man and have a truly entertaining product each and every year.

Look at that list. Unreal that they managed to get those players in deals time and time again while the Bruins can't even get an injured EP40 or a disgruntled Miller?

Still can't believe Boston couldn't get Hertl to be the 1st line C when the word went out that he was available.

Are we back to management overvaluing their assets again?

Beating the Panthers could certainly be that spark.

The two weeks idea is a good one but I'm more concerned with this club having another two bad weeks that will sink their ship.

I comment on here and want moves to be made but after many conversations with people in, or have been in the management/scouting side of NHL teams I can say that these managers have forgotten more than I know about the game.

And I have been lucky enough to play the game for close to 40 years and coach for several as well.

It shouldn't stop us from asking questions and wanting more from a management team but it also comes with the respect that they know a lot more about the game.

I totally get what you are saying.

However the Swayman contract went sort of public (maybe from both sides?) and people got inflamed. Not fair, but I can see how it happens. That’s on people who choose to slag off the player. BUT in the end, Keefe’s report on Swayman appears to be wrong and helped inflame a situation that shouldn’t have become inflamed.

Pasta on the other hand? Not once in all his time in Boston has he not come across as fun loving, goofy, and a teammate everyone likes. Some may think his play is lazy (as a rule, I do not) but if anyone can show me a single example of Pasta being a Prima Donna I’ll consider myself educated on that front.

Different circumstances IMO.

Hertl makes over $8M for this year and two more. He’s hit 70 points once in his career and that was six years ago. He’s a -10 this year on a very good Vegas team. He’s not a 1C.

But he had virtually a full NTC (28 team NTC) so could pick his spot. Players like Vegas, not the least of which is because it’s a no tax state.

This year, who is better, Hertl or Lindholm?
