Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XI

Deadline id move
Marchand- Yes it would suck but you cant lose him for nothing and id think he'd want another chance at the cup. Move him to Colorado, NJ, or Dallas for a 1st and prospect

Frederic- Not much needs to be said. Move him for what you can get

Carlo- Good value contract. Some team will give up a 1st(teams overpay at the deadline). Let them deal with his softness

Brazeau- Sell High

Geekie- Meh player, Maybe you get a 2nd

Coyle- Would be a great add for a contender to play 3C

Koepke, Wortherspoon, Oesterle etc- Teams need depth

At the Draft

Pasta- I have a feeling he's going to ask out. Amazing scorer but a one trick pony. If you can get absolute bag for him, id do it. Were talking multiple 1st round picks, Young NHL ready players.

McAvoy- Another "leader" who isnt even close to one. IMO the most disappointing guy on the team Playing like he doesn't want to be out there. Constant turnovers. Another guy you could get a bag for.

I get this is a total blowup, but anything is better than the current product. They'll have a boatload of picks for a new GM tom play with. Hopefully Cam and Don are gone.

I can believe that there are locker room issues right now with how inconsistent the efforts are out there. Especially when you look at how many veteran voices we lost over the past 2 seasons. But it just never seemed super real that two guys that have played together for a decade, most of that on the same line, suddenly hate each other after some adversity.

Also if Pasta isn't playing with Marchand then he has Geekie on his left wing. I'm gonna guess that even if those two f***ing hated each other Past would still prefer the former lol.

Manufacturering player rifts is total Toronto Maple Leafs energy. If any scenario is likely besides the media creating this it's Sweeney knowing it's the end of his rope and trying to pin it on the one guy that is top line talent on the team. Warts and all Pasta isn't a shitbag like that and the whole team needs to take offense to this slight and get it together for their own reputations at this point.

I am sure it is not a happy place right now. It is the nature of groups when shit goes wrong- tempers flare, bickering breaks out, sometimes outright hostility, blame- the whole human experience with the added pressure of being in the fishbowl.

I don't buy Pasta asking never to play on a line with Brad, that sounds like bullshit to me, but conflict? Sure, I can believe it, even among friends.

This WEEI drama is such a non starter for me.

You cant get me to turn on some of the only guys who have shown up at some points of the season. Sorry.

Pasta, Marchy and The Island of The Misfit Toys.

Fire Sweeney.

We can move on from this.

I am not sure if you know this, but professional players are PR trained. This in no way discredits rumors. Not saying the rumors are true, but of course Marchand and Pasta are going to say this while they are still on the same team with a future in the NHL in mind.

Kobe and Shaq said things were fine, MOC said Thornton was a long term piece of the Bruins a month or so before the trade.

Canadiens said everything was fine with Patrick Roy.

Well to me it adds. Top line centre. If they toss in coyle and take back garland too it would plug the right wing hole it would create as well.

It also addresses the power play imo.
You can get Petterson fine, but if it cost Pasta, that is not good.

I don't think there is a leader to be found from the top on down.

They came back from the holidays and it sure seems like they're counting the days till the season ends on American Tax day. It happens.

I'd like Chara and/or Bergy to have some hired positions. I'd like someone to come in to the locker room at deadline or through FA that can help change the culture. A new coaching team to change the culture.

I know people who are ST holders and know more than I ever will about hockey will disagree, but I'd like to move on from Brad.

As for the game last night, I'd say if that game is replayed 100 times, the Bruins win 55 of them. They are snakebit and issues between the ears are resulting in a team that is better than they're performances of late.

This is a very crude proj. Its really just based on games remaining and current point% for each team. If things continue like they have to date.....

CBJ would be your WC1 and you're looking at a 4 way battle for the WC2 spot between MTL, OTT, PIT & BOS. Here is your schedule leading up to the TDL and Bruins record vs those teams this season (if they've played)

*Bolded are remaining games in January

Florida - (0-2-0)
Tampa Bay - (0-1-0)
Ottawa - (0-0-1)
San Jose - (NA)
New Jersey - (NA)
Ottawa - (0-0-1)
Colorado - (1-0-0)
Buffalo - (1-0-0)
Winnipeg - (0-1-0)

New York (R) - (0-1-0)
Minnesota - (NA)
New York (R) - (0-1-0)
Vegas - (NA)
Anaheim - (NA)
Toronto - (1-2-0)
New York (I) - (1-0-1)
Pittsburgh - (0-1-0)
Minnesota - (NA)
Nashville - (0-1-0)
Carolina - (0-1-0)

We're a combined 4-11-2 vs the teams we've played and will play prior to the TDL. Of the teams we haven't played....

San Jose - 31st
New Jersey - 6th
Minnesota - 4th
Vegas - 1st
Anaheim - 25th

So the teams we have played we haven't faired well and 3 of the 5 we haven't are essentially top 5 teams this season. With the Bruins currently holding the 4th worst goal differential, I just don't see how you can do anything but sell. The guys who are pending FA and not part of the future, move them. Bring up guys like Poitras, Lysell & Murk to see what you have.

FWIW- Those suggesting moving on from Brad as a "last kick at the can for him"- Im not entirely sure he is done after this season.

Reason?

EF's report at the start of this season saying the Bs and Brad were looking at a 3-year extension (Brad later squashed this).

Brad himself is on record in saying he wont feel 100 percent normal till next season (indicating another season at least).

That's some good research, and a scary outlook.

Noted Pasta HATER Felger is running with Keefe locker room drama take.

SHOCKING

Holy $hit You really want McKenna

I think that's part of the problem with this team. McAvoy and Pasta are not great leaders. Some people have natural leadership qualities, call it a kind of charisma if you like, and people follow them and would go through a wall for them. Despite their other positive qualities, I don't think McAvoy and Pasta are those kind of people. And I even wonder about Marchand sometimes.

Who knows if that report is true, or just media muckraking, but if any player, Pasta included, has a problem being held accountable, then that's a problem for the team.
Careful! I took a lot of heat a couple of years back when I posted here that if C Mac and Pasta were the next leadership core, then this team would be in trouble.

A LOT of heat!

That's not to say I dislike them, by any stretch, but they don't scream leader to me.

Neither does Marchand, by the way, but he's what they've got. I think he's a rotten rat bastard, but he's OUR rotten rat bastard, and I'm glad he is.

I will say, that if there's trouble in the locker room, good! There'd better be! and if the Captain is calling out the star scorer.......good! He should be! He should also be calling out himself, IMO.

I'm also firmly in the camp of replacing Sweeney & Neely, although I doubt both go at the same time.

But, wuddo I know?

Nothing quiets rumors except for winning.

Didn't one of Pasta or Marchand say a few years back that they get into it on the bench a lot, but Bergeron was always there to reel them back in and shut it down?
