Between now and the Leafs game.

No Marchand?
I'm actually with @BruinDust on this one. IF (not saying they will, but IF) Boston decides to be sellers at the trade deadline, Marchand is one of the first guys I'd consider moving. The fanbase would go apeshit, but that would be a gutsy (and smart) move in my opinion. He'd bring back a good return.

You could always bring him back in the summer if you wanted to.

I'd be listening. If this goes off the rails in the 2nd half I'd like to know what the market is like.

If the Bruins are in the basement by the deadline and clearly out of the playoff mix, how can they justify at least seeing what is out there for their soon-to-be UFA star. Could be the most intriguing piece at the deadline if the Bruins are in selling mode.

Heck, they might be in that position, realize the market isn't what they thought, and turn around and extend him. But it would be foolish not to listen, as it would be foolish for contenders not to inquire. And if the Bruins are out of it, teams will inquire, no question about it.

And how would Marchand (and his family) feel about that?

No idea. All depends on how you handle the conversation. I concede that there's risk there, but I still think its gotta be a strong consideration. We're talking about a couple of months.

If the Bs are out of playoff contention, I think it would be enticing to have a chance at one last cup run at the end of my career.

Sure. I think that goes without saying. But its definitely something to kick the tires on.
He is playing very well right now, unlike at the beginning of the season, which might have been from all the surgeries, but remember what witnessed at the beginning of the season that day is coming. The question you must ask yourself, can bring enough of a haul to help this team, or are you a sentimentalist.

Holy over reaction everyone.

This team is actually young. A rebuild isn’t necessary. They just need to keep adding good pieces.

If you take away the horrible start to the season then this team is probably still a top 10 team in the league.

Let’s just see how the season plays out. There really isn’t any horrible contracts. Elias lindholms the only player that hasn’t played up to his contract and he has been a lot better lately. Seems he always starts slow with new teams. I think come playoff time we will be loving him.

Bruins still have their first and they have two solid players that are doing really well in the AHL (poitras and lysell)

We act like they are in salary cap hell but that’s not true. They always spend to the cap. That’s how you win. The defence is good. The goaltending is pretty good.

They just need lysell and poitras to step up and be top 6 players and this team is very competitive for another 5-10 years.

If they break it all down to rebuild then you’re looking at a 10-15 year rebuild. Look how long it has taken teams to become good again. Edmonton was terrible until they got mcdavid. Buffalo can’t seem to get out the bottom of the league. San jose is the worst team ever. Chicago has a long way to go. Sens took what 10 years to be good?how long has Anahiem been terrible? I can go on and on. Losing to win doesn’t work for the most part.

Poitras should be in the nhl. There is no doubt in my mind. He also should be on the pp. he was barely given any pp time
He needed to get stronger too.

On a plus note (sarcasm for those without the necessary meter), the roster as of July 1st 2025:

Zacha - E. Lindholm - Pasta
XXXX - Coyle - XXXX
XXXX - XXXX - XXXX
XXXX - XXXX - XXXX
XXXX, XXXX

H. Lindholm - McAvoy
Zadarov - Carlo
Oesterle - Peeke
XXXX

Swayman
Korpisalo

That empty roster has $19.2m in cap space (if cap doesn't go up) to fill 11 spots. One of which is our captain.

The fact that this group listed here, constitutes $68m is nauseating. You'd think we had $10m+ in dead cap.

May need to hit the reset button if this years team continues to flounder.
Would look a lot better without Coyle and 1 of Carlo/Peeke on there.
