I actually appreciate the idea of letting Poitras marinate a little longer. I would love to call him up with a month left in the season and then call him up as a permanent fixture at that time. I think he has top 6 potential but also felt his offense was going in the wrong direction here.I get letting Poitras mature in Providence . However his skill set is desperately needed on the Bruins
Merkulov, I agree it would be nice to have him up over McGlaughlin, Wahlstrom or Koepke. I would have him competing with the two remaining players, Brazzeau, Beecher and even Frederic for minutes. Given that I think Merkulov's talent is higher then a couple of these guys, I would hope, he would get regular minutes in the lineup and show more of his offensive cappability, which I have not seen at the NHL level with his limited opportunities thus far. I think this is an influx of offensive talent more likely to have an impact on our playoff chances then most of the others on this list.
For Lysell, I'd call him up anytime I had an injury in the top 6. I'd call him up to play on the 3rd line depending on who is linemates were. I wouldn't play him with Wahlstrom/Brazzeau and Merkulov for example. I might play him with Frederic and Koepke/Kastelic/Beecher. Just like Poitras, I am hoping at some point he takes a full time spot, but I don't see much possibility that happens this year for him.
