Spit balling because Buffalo is a complete disaster:

To Buffalo:
Trent Frederic
Andrew Peeke/Morgan Geekie (cap dump?) - I'm not sure who to add, lol.
2nd round pick

To Boston:
Alex Tuch
In theory I like this deal but I'm not sure if Geekie will draw any interest. Can they really afford to lose Peeke on the back end? IMO, I don't think they can. If I am looking to move Peeke, I am doing it at the draft.

I always liked Kreider but not sure he cures pp woes as it seems to lack in entry and crisp passing most of all.
So how much would you think our chances of contending improve. Odds now of B's winning the Cup are @30/1. Do you think his addition improves it to better than 20/1? Are you thinking in contention means nearly as good a shot as anyone? I think he could only help short term but I'd really be looking to not taking on vet contracts to maybe improve our very outside shot.
I think he improves us to 10/1 or better. He is exactly what we need. He’s also not short term. He’s a big, durable guy.

Let me be the first to mention Kreider in this thread. He solves so many issues if it could involve the Rangers taking salary back. The guy would be awesome here. Big, rugged (his neck is wider than his head for crying out loud!) fearless in front of the net. He cures the power play woes. Very durable guy NOT to be compared to Backes. Get him and not only are we in, but we’re in contention.
Couldn't agree more with this...only if the price is right. I really don't want to move the 1st

We need to put Merkulov on the first line instead of the Geekie thing. Merk is so a better player more skills, better vision, better shot...

They might. He’s having a very terrible season.

It was given to him out of respect. He chose Nashville as the place he wanted to finish his playing days. Unlike some GMs out there (who will remain nameless), Trotz actually has real respect for the players.

Only way Stamkos is traded is if he asks to be. And even then, he’ll be naming his destination. Not gonna happen.

Start a bidding war for Frederic and get a haul.

Extend Geekie since he provides the same amount of offense, but won't have an inflated contract.

Just need one of Poitras/Lysell/Wahlstrom to match Frederic's production.

Yeah, I could see them asking him if he wants to go elsewhere. But absolutely he would get to chose where he wants to go in that scenario

Listening to Morning Cuppa of Hockey this morning there was some Drury discussion on how he's forgotten what it was like to be a player and ex providence Bruin and co-host Colby Cohen threw Don Sweeney name out there as being another who's forgotten. Mike Rupp was on the show and said the one thing players love is honesty and communication whether its bad news or good for them they'll respect it. No shocker there of course, and he mentioned Lou and Billy Guerin as two guys who get it.
