Carrying on from the other thread, I don't see a single viable trade for Zibanejad

But why do people hate him at 8.5m? Last 3 seasons of 81, 91, 72 pts. He's massively outperforming 8.5m. I'm not going to worry about these 30 games.

That said, I don't see a trade that fits both clubs.

Zacha and or Coyle for him makes sense. We get another player in the deal somewhere and maybe add a prospect.

I prefer Zacha (also only 27) at 4.75 than him at 8.5, in a cap world. So I'm not trading away the Zacha contract.

We would have to add a fair bit to Coyle. And I don't see why the Rangers would want Coyle playing as bad as he has in some years. I think these 2 squads don't make great trade partners.

If the Rangers plan on dumping him like they did Trouba, maybe the Bruins can get him for Coyle + Frederic with maybe the Rangers retaining $1M to make the cap work. Then the Bruins bring up Poitras to center the 3rd line.

Was signing declining Elias Lindholm to a long-term deal taking him past his mid-30s a massive mistake? You betcha.

Trading for declining Zibanejad would be like doubling down on that same mistake.

28 million over the next 5 years spent on Elias, Hampus, Zibanejad and Zadorov is flat out nuts even with a rising cap.

If the Rags are willing to to trade Mikka for that, imo there’s no way the Bruins get him. This guy is a stud far better than any current Bruins Center. Other teams will beat that offer in a nano second.

What? Zibanejad? Come on, that would be a terrible play on all levels. Wouldn't even trade Lindholm for him much less Zacha. Plus the hair...

I agree with pretty much everything you are saying , but I must disagree with Hampus being included, I think he had a stretch where he was struggling, and I think that might have been injury related, but overall, I think is one solid defenseman.

I like Hampus, felt he was playing the best of all the D-men before he went down. He's still solid, but I wouldn't put money on that contract aging well. He seemed a bit slower last year (guessing he was playing injured) and it really limited his effectiveness.

I think Fox for McAvoy would wake up both teams and players.

To his defense, Zibanejad is a better offensive center than Lindholm. He has been or close to a PPG player since 2018. His contract is also buyout friendly.

They got rid of Trouba, who had a NMC, for Vaakanainen and a 2nd. Zibanejad also has a NMC so he controls where he goes. If the Rangers also plan on dumping him, they don't have much of a say similarly how we got Taylor Hall for Bjork and a 2nd.

Trouba’s NMC expired July 1. He had a 15 team NTC.

That would be a fire-able offense no question, but if The Rangers are willing to Move Mika for Elias Lindholm, imo the bruins have to do it, but I doubt the Rags do. I haven't watched Zibanajed this year and the Rangers board has him all but in the old-timers home but I cant believe this guy has fallen that far that fast.

Lindholm has a full no move clause. If they asked him to waive it here 2 months into a 7 year contract, you'll never see another significant UFA sign here again under Sweeney and Neely's administration.

Im not so sure about that. It never hurts to ask and their not doing their due-diligence if they don't ask. Some times a player may want out just as much as a team wants him gone. The NMC just gives them re-assurance their not going to Buffalo or anywhere else he doesn't want to play, and If he chooses not to move thats Ok too, because he was given that contract, but I see no hurt in asking the player if he wants to waive it.

If the Canucks offer The Bruins E. Petterson and the Canucks want E.Lindholm as part of the return, do you think Sweeney is going to say no, we gave him a full NMC? Dam right he's not, he's going to check to see if lindholm is willing to waive his NMC, and if he chooses not to, thats his right.

Tim Thomas disagrees.

Isn't this short sample basically what Zibanejad does nearly every season - go through periods where you need to check his pulse to ensure he isn't legally dead, followed by some of the more ridiculous hot streaks of any active player?
