4 or 5 years ago Id have been all over Kreider. Always thought he was born to be a Bruin.

But time has passed that by.

He’ll be 34 come April and will be owed 6.5 aav for this year plus 2 more years.
Normally, Wally I would have posted before you, but this is one time, I might revaluate that "NO". he still has been productive last few years 39-36- 52 goals, twos years after this not a terrible contract, one of favorites Stamkos 4 years at 8 mil already, 34 and will be 35 come February, stop and think a little, is it that bad ? Now my question is cost to obtain.

Yes let's buy high on a 33 year old center instead of buying low on a 23 year old one.
What 23 year old are you talking about ?

Wally, just to let you know, I did not mean to imply that you were not thinking, should have worded it differently.

The addition of Kreider would likely be a boon for the PP, though he wouldn't fix a roster full of guys that can't pass and refuse to shoot.

It does sound like something Harry would have been all over. Then Kreider would get hooked on bath salts, run over the Bruins' goalie and take a 180 day leave of absence from the team.

Is he actually on the block, or is this just some HF wishful speculation? If they are actually open to trading him, I would love to see Sweeney make a move, That said, I don't know that he would since Zegras is the 180 degree version of Bergeron which is the archetype they want in all their forwards (and why we can't seem to have nice things from a scoring perspective).

Who? We talking about?

what makes you think they would sell him on the low ?
There is always teams like Anaheim they been drafting in the top 10 for so long that they have a better player in the minors. So they then try to move the player out of his natural position, and when that does work a trade is next.
From the Bleacher report:

  1. Once considered a foundation player for the Anaheim Ducks, Trevor Zegras has been a frequent subject of trade speculation since January. The 23-year-old forward was featured in our July and September NHL Trade Block Big Boards.
Zegras is in the second season of a three-year contract with an average annual value of $5.4 million. Nevertheless, his struggles last season and the Ducks' status as a rebuilding club raised questions about his future.
On Oct. 9, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported things were quiet on the Zegras front. Two days later, Andrew Knoll of The Orange County Register wondered about Zegras' place with the Ducks. He noted that Leo Carlsson and Mason McTavish have taken over the top two center roles, leaving Zegras relegated to the wing.
Zegras has had a slow start this season with two points in his first nine games skating on the Ducks' third line. If his production doesn't improve he will generate buzz in the rumor mill again. Zegras might benefit from a trade to another team with more depth and a more offensive-minded system.
From the Hockey News and Pierre LeBrun just before the draft:
Trevor Zegras will remain on trade lists, at the forefront of trade speculation, and the target of rumors for the foreseeable future. It's the nature of NHL media.

Pat Verbeek and the Ducks don't seem to be in a rush to move on from the supremely talented and charismatic young forward. That is unless an opposing GM makes Verbeek a "Godfather" offer. An offer he can't refuse.

However, there is now a confirmed list of teams who have shown interest, and it's a long list that keeps growing.

There's been a lot of smoke around Zegras since last year's trade deadly with Montreal being the front runner as of late.

But he would improve it because he would probably replace one of those guys, and if he put on the Bruins jersey tomorrow, he'd be our leading goal-scorer, on a pace to score 36-40.

It does feel like a bandaid move, though. I can see them doing it, but I’d prefer they resist the now mentality and try to work on either a) getting one of their young offensive talents geared up (which means playing them warts and all) or B) pursue someone much younger than Kreider.

Here's an Interesting one from Spector's Hockey Marc Rossi (Wild) NHL Rumor Mill – November 23, 2024 | Spectors Hockey

Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi was on that list. Johnston indicated the Wild aren’t facing pressure to trade the 23-year-old forward, he’s slated to become a restricted free agent next summer. He believes management must decide if they’ll commit long-term “to a diminutive winger with elite offensive instincts and playmaking abilities.” Johnston believes Rossi is a candidate “to be included in a player-for-player swap.”

PHILLY HOCKEY NOW: Jonathan Bailey cited Johnston’s colleague Michael Russo telling the “Worst Seats In The House” podcast that he still believes the Wild will trade Rossi. “I don’t know when. I don’t know if it’s imminent, by the deadline, or next summer,” said Russo. “I just think that they do not feel he’s the player to commit to long-term”.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Rossi had 21 goals and 40 points in 82 games as a rookie last season. He has five goals and 15 points in 19 games thus far in his sophomore campaign, putting him on pace to reach 60 points. The Austrian forward has yet to hit his playing prime and should continue to improve.

Rossi will be coming off his entry-level contract and lacks arbitration rights. The only leverage he’ll have is the threat of an offer sheet from a rival club. Missing training camp or the start of next season won’t do his performance any good through 2025-26.

The Wild will have $19.5 million in cap space for 2025-26 if the cap rises as projected to $92.4 million with 15 active roster players under contract. They’ll have plenty of room to re-sign Rossi to a bridge deal or to match an offer from a rival team. However, they must maintain sufficient long-term cap room to re-sign superstar
Kirill Kaprizov, who is eligible for unrestricted free-agent status in July 2026 and could cost $14 million annually to re-sign.

Rossi would be a valuable trade chip if he doesn’t fit into the Wild’s long-term plans. It’s a move that likely occurs next summer but a trade for another good young player is possible before the March 7 deadline.

Idk about trading for a 34 year old Kreider and at that salary.

This team isn’t moving in the kind of direction where I would wanna give up the assets to take a chance on that.

Pasta is 28. The chances of the Bruins landing another elite talent before bottoming out are not great. It's been an amazing run of getting top 5 picks in the mid/late 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds the last 20 years.

So you have to either pray that one of your late 1sts becomes another Pasta/McAvoy or three, or you feel free to make use of them to supplement now.

But that doesn't mean going after a Krieder. It means going after folks younger than Pasta but that have a prime that lines up with Pasta's better.

The rumors are Krieder is in play for the Rangers. I’d be in on him in a second.
Absolutely

If it were for say Coyle and small add, I would do it.
