He’s not an “elite playmaking center” though.
NMC for 3 more years. How does everyone feel about trading #27
I think he makes us worse and I’m good with Witherspoon and Peeke
Who would then be dman #7
Don’t get the Bert thing. Major turtle, giveaway machine, plays one end of rink and he doesn’t do it well enough. No to turtles. Team needs speed and skill.BOS: Bertuzzi (50%)
CHI: Geekie, Merkulov, 2nd
Gives Chicago a couple of centers which they lack. Bertuzzi fits right back in with Zacha and Pasta.
We pay a little more (2nd) for the cap space but that will actually help Chicago get to the cap floor in future years.
Beggars cant be choosers but if there is also one position on the team where you try to hide a "soft" player wouldn't it be your 1C? I guess it could be really any 1st line role but it's not like it's unheard of
There's also a lot of 1C's who fit the description (maybe not as much) but guys like Barzal, Hughes and Pettersson all catch some flack from time to time for being perimeter or this or that
Zegras "soft' label I think is a little overblown. What happened to having your finesse guy up there and a bunch of other gritty guys to support him?
Our team is just the gritty
One of the problems is his salary, someone like Coyle would have to go the other way. The type of player they should be looking for is more like a Gabe Villardi type, not sure the Jets would make any deal right now, but that is the type of player we need. Zegras plays a soft game and if he came here and was not producing, he would become the new whipping boy. There is also some questions about his attitude.I just don’t understand how you can watch this roster day in and day out and not want an elite playmaking center on this roster.
He got promoted to first line duties and has 4 points in 4 games.
He would have more points playing inbetween two guys with rocket shots like Pasta and Zacha. Boston would be over the moon if we could get some talent injected back into this lifeless forward core.
I think if it isn’t Zegras, who is it? We need a playmaker down the middle—full stop. A Krejci-like presence makes this team legitimate.

No one on the team is a first line center. Poitras and Merkulov don't have to be first line centers right now in their careers, the Bruins need to see if either of these two players can help fix the top 6 so they can start scoring some goals. Poitras has skated with Zacha and Pastrnak last season. A bottom 6 player in Geekie isn't solving that problem either.Merkolov and Poitras, are not first line centers. The Bruins have a history of drafting centers, and moving them too wing. I like the idea of having some versatility, but I think they overused that theory.

Just don't think either side makes that move. And your issue is....?
Well you could move Coyle in another dealJust don't think either side makes that move.
I have seen enough of those two to know, that they are not first line centers, and they maybe at some point grow their game, but at this time, not going to happen. No one on the team is a first line center. Poitras and Merkulov don't have to be first line centers right now in their careers, the Bruins need to see if either of these two players can help fix the top 6 so they can start scoring some goals. Who would you have at RD on the second pair if he goes?I still think the Bruins could get something decent in a package with Brandon Carlo.
I watched him close today vs Flyers and I never saw what you are saying. At least not today anyways. He was actually smart in own end ,angling himself while attacking D men so he could not get shot through. He played well vs Bruins in that series last year as well.Don’t get the Bert thing. Major turtle, giveaway machine, plays one end of rink and he doesn’t do it well enough. No to turtles. Team needs speed and skill.

Kalus had 4 in 9 but we wouldn’t exactly say he had the “it factor”, no?I agree. He has a little bit of an "it" factor that I'm sure fans can kind of see...call it hockey IQ or finish (4 goal in 14 NHL games) but there might still be a bottom six player in there.
Glad he's getting another chance
Bertuzzi is NOT coming back!BOS: Bertuzzi (50%)

A first plus but our drafting sucks, so no.I still think the Bruins could get something decent in a package with Brandon Carlo.
