The fact that you have two memorable examples in past 5 seasons pretty much illustrates the point. Want to go ahead and list all the teams in those seasons that were out of the playoffs by then that didn't make it? It's ugly.

Look at the stat above posted by @PlayMakers . It ought to be a cause for concern over the next several games.

With as bad as things have looked on the 2nd and 3rd lines, why the hell isn't Fabian Lysell getting a shot?

Would that be the Fabian Lysell who has 2 pts in 7 AHL games? Seems like he's struggling as much in Providence against AHL talent as any forward is in Boston against the best in the world.

Dude, context is everything- the discussion has been about what do you do IF they are out of the spot by then, which is four weeks out. And then the conversation steered towards 'is waiting that long too late?' And yes, I believe the statistics about being out of playoffs by Thanksgiving. I'd prefer the team not have to hope they can be one out of the four that do make it in.

I get it, it's hard to believe that stat when there is still so much of the season left to go, but it is what it is.

Probably too late at that point but you have to try to right the ship.

They won't be bad enough to fall to 1st overall. You'd have to think a 'top5 goalie' like Swayman will steal you some games, as will Pasta.

So you fire the coach because you can't fire the whole team (even though it's the players who deserve it). Include the players in the selection process to find out how they want to play and what they think will be successful in terms of systems. They're the ones who quit. Ok, why? What do you think will work? Take their excuses away.

Lastly, I'd let them know that if we're not in a playoff spot by the trade deadline they can expect to be asked for a list of teams where they can be traded.

Not good enough. Especially for "top-6" players.

Coyle is not a good player, even as a 3rd liner and I'll die on this hill. He's my public enemy number 1 on this team and I don't get why everyone's almost always ok with him. He's been one of our top earning forwards for years and hasn't shown up in a single playoffs except his first year here. I wish we could get rid of him

Ok and? Is this team going to do something in the play-offs? Do they strike you as a threat with their current construction? This team was posed to be a true cup contender this year, remember last year was the "bridge" year and with money to reload the run starts now.

Funny how you bring uop O'Reilly, would he have not looked good in this lineup for a little more than 4 mil that you are paying Lindholm. That is what you call a reasonable contract and just maybe, he might add a little more to leadership that everyone is talking about.

Maybe, but given how a guy like Frederic has shown he is capable of playing physically, why is Monty not able to get that Fred to come out to play…ever?

It’s a lineup with plenty of weak spots, but the uninspired structure, often weak work ethic, and passiveness of the team can’t be put all on the players. The HC has a job to get the most out of what he does have and Montgomery is performing far below that.

Not sure, but you have to start wondering if it’s coming down from management. Regardless of the coach, every player who comes here and/or spends some time here seems to be instantly neutered.

He had a miracle regular season last year like Geekie, He belongs planted on the third or fourth line on a contending team,

I still think this will be his last season in a Bruin uniform, If they keep losing it will be sooner rather than later.

Not sure, but you have to start wondering if it’s coming down from management. Regardless of the coach, every player who comes here seems to be instantly neutered.

Isn't he leading or #2 for hits on the team so far? He's doing his job in that department but needs to start shooting and having confidence in his skill.

This current incarnation will not be a cup contender. 100%. They have been a cup contender once the past four seasons and this team is worse then them. Now, make 2011 type trades and yeah, talk to me.

Feel like this has a Sweeney feel to it almost like Haula for Zacha

I don’t think it solves all of our issues but I think he offers some skill and playmaking that the top six could use

He could have more to give outside of Torts
