3 yrs of Kreider would just add to what is going on here. Him and the coach don’t get along?
What's that, 3 more years in the playoffs?

Bring in a new coach from the outside that changes it up
If I knew how to fix it I wouldn't be doing what I do now, but anyone can see changes in coaching and strategy need to be changed
Dom remarked he would be a good pick up. Perhaps bruins tried?Waived I believe
Exactly. Get him! A speedy scoring Bostonian would be awesome. What's that, 3 more years in the playoffs?
He has scored three goals in the last few games with Freddy on his line, why in the world would you change that up?Guy is at least finding his goal scoring ability. He is projecting out at a 22G clip now on a goal starved team. Coyle's start was beyond brutal, but last two weeks his play has been trending towards a decent 3C. Put Koepke and Kastelic with him the next 3 games and see what you get.
Who would Fabbro replace? That pick up makes zero sense for the B's unless they trade or waive one of their own 7-8 Men.Dom remarked he would be a good pick up. Perhaps bruins tried?

Yeah and I get that is why they are giving him this leash, but if it's not Geekie there is always another vet that they seem to plug in and let play poorly for way too long...Foligno as another recent example...I just don't get why this opportunity is never given to younger guys. You make a good point but Geekie did produce 17G and 39Pts last year. I can't blame them for at least giving him a look in the top 6. I think they will keep Geekie with 18\88
for at least the next three games.

Honestly who has shown anything worthy of getting that chance. Management obviously has zero faith in Providence call ups.Yeah and I get that is why they are giving him this leash, but if it's not Geekie there is always another vet that they seem to plug in and let play poorly for way too long...Foligno as another recent example...I just don't get why this opportunity is never given to younger guys.
Merk is close to a PPG every year on Providence and they give him 3 games on line 3. What is the worst that can happen trying him on line 1 for 10 games instead of Geekie? Although the geek is looking better lately.Honestly who has shown anything worthy of getting that chance. Management obviously has zero faith in Providence call ups.
Geekie is not losing his spot to Merk. Bruins don't have 10 games for a try out on their first line.Merk is close to a PPG every year on Providence and they give him 3 games on line 3. Brind'Amour is a master at this. He has three grinders, Martinook, Robinson and Carrier, each on a scoring line to provide that spark of energy. Aho, Necas and Svechnikov all play on different lines and feast on the chaos those 4th liners create.I thought @PlayMakers was smoking the good stuff laced with better stuff when he mentioned Kastelic with Zacha and Pasta as an option.
But after seeing how much having Kastelic on the 3rd line rejuvenated that line... maybe its worth a look and slotting Geekie down on the third line where he belongs.

Yeah I did, a season ago before the current crop of blue liners.Dom remarked he would be a good pick up. Perhaps bruins tried?
My point was moreso to the OP saying that players need to earn their spot and not be gifted it, yet they will "gift" Geekie (or various other vets) top 6 minutes and even if he isn't producing will keep him there, while Merk or whoever will get 3 games in the bottom 6 and he's gone. The Bruins scout every game he plays in Providence, and he has been in camp the last 2-3 years. They have a much better idea of how they feel he can pay at the NHL level than any of us do.
there have been a lot of players who put up a ton of points at the AHL level but aren't NHL guys
I like what I've seen from McLaughlin and thought he did a good job on the 4th line.Well, Mark McLaughlin isn't that guy either. I like the kid and the effort but I'd give someone else a shot at that spot. Looking for someone to make more of the opportunity. Ok, you can all beat me down now
I don't think they're "gifting" anybody top 6 minutes. I think they're going with the best players they feel they have on their roster. I agree with you that Geekie is not a top 6 forward on a good team. But just because we're forced to use him there doesn't make Merkulov any more qualified to take that spot either. Same goes for Lysell. My point was moreso to the OP saying that players need to earn their spot and not be gifted it, yet they will "gift" Geekie (or various other vets) top 6 minutes and even if he isn't producing will keep him there, while Merk or whoever will get 3 games in the bottom 6 and he's gone.
