Prospect Info: '24-'25 Prospects Thread: Generation Z

Sorry Emp, I was trying to quote someone else but that didn’t show up along with half of my post? Sorry bud, didn’t mean to imply you hated it. I know you and I liked the pick as did a few others, but there was quite a few people here and on the main board who thought Howe was a waste as a2nd rounder.

Mostly I’m just curious how people changed their thinking on the pick— what made them reevaluate?

Regarding Howe, don't forget that he was on a pretty terrible team in Regina. They were one of the worst teams in the WHL last year and again this year. Thankfully, Howe was traded to Calgary and has a chance to play at a higher level because of it.

He also missed time due to injury this year.

I don't think a full season with Calgary next year as he turns 20 is the end of the world for Howe.

Wheeling was on the way home from Cleveland, so why not stop to watch the game. Spezza and Kessel in the booth right next to me..:

I don't think his numbers with the Pats were even that bad when you look at how he did with Bedard on the team, he put up 85pts which yeah is a massive boost playing with a talent like that. Then Bedard leaves and he is the best player on Regina and has 77pts, 25pts more than the next player. Then this year, the Pats are all kinds of rancid. Top player having 28pts levels of bad. He would have been 2nd or 3rd on the Hitmen if he was there all season and that could be up or down depending on his usage and growth on that team but 39pts in 37 games is pretty good given the injury he came off of. How he's stepped up for them in the playoffs is also a big indicator of how good his numbers could have been if he was there all season.

Smashed palate is rough and that was around the summer, I think he said he could feel the top of his palate at the back of his mouth, yuck and then he also broke his wrist (bone in his wrist, missed I think a month?). Watching him play, he reminds me of a smaller Kunitz (both are Sask lads) which I know, I hate to even say that out loud but a comparable for me for an ex Penguin, it's not a bad one.

Howe currently leads the Hitmen in pts during the playoffs. He looks good for them in the games I was able to watch. Staying in Calgary for another year is fine, he's a smaller bloke so having that time to keep getting stronger and getting a chance to showcase more of that offence in his game on a better team will be big for him as his final year next year.

Cruz Lucious' brother Chaz..... What are these names even?.... Has been forced to retire from playing hockey due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. That's a horrible condition, my best friend has 2 daughters with varying degrees of EDS, it's amazing Chaz could play as long as he did.

EDS is apparently hereditary, so it's pretty reasonable to be asking if Cruz has this as well. I'm obviously more concerned for the Lucius brothers and family more than anything, but I do think you have to wonder if Cruz will be retiring due to a similar health concern.

Considering Cruz missed half of a season and came back performing far worse than he did in the 2 previous years, I'd be scared of him having it as well.

He did play two pretty close to full season at Wisconsin so hopefully he's not got it too. Sucks to have to retire at 21, wonder if he'll stay in hockey.

It’s a bit odd that we haven’t heard any confirmation about Hallander signing with the Penguins yet. Curious about what the holdup there is.
I think his contract with his current team ends May 31, so, while even though he's leaving for North America, he can't officially sign until then?
