Prospect Info: '24-'25 Prospects Thread: Generation Z

I like what I'm seeing from Tanner Howe. Moves well, good puck pursuit, and not afraid to play greasy.
A lot of people were naysaying his selection in the WJC roster thread (and a couple other forwards) but selections like him always happen and he’s also showing he’s not out of place at all.

Nailers made it more difficult than it already was. 6 minutes left, Cincy scores a fluke wrister through 4 bodies, Murashov never sees it,off the post and in. After the goal, Cole Cameron cross checks a Cyclone in the face, gets a 5+game. Murashov shuts the door from thereon out, nailers win 3-2. Murashov 23 of 25, Nailers with a whopping 12 shots total.

Yager looks extremely underwhelming for being the captain/ being a 19 year old player so far

Yeah this Canadian team does not look that dominant. Controlling play but no finish.

Lol Latvia ties it 🤣

Go team Blueger
They have them playing like an NHL team in the playoffs…which seems unnecessary to me. These kids are good defensively, but not THAT good. TC has some guys who can shake and bake. Let them use it.

Stripes doing whatever they can to get Latvia to win this lol. What is that…like 11 or 12 penalties in 2 games? Ridiculous.

I’m sorry lol these kids just can’t f***ing score lol

Edit: Congrats Latvia, don’t think I’ve ever seen a shootout have 15 consecutive saves

It’s stranger in that he looked better last year when he was a year younger.

Well, this is my whole thing with Yager over the last 12-16 months. He isn't a driver.

He was playing with more talent at last years WJC and was with Celebrini for spells.

Similar to his impact in the W. Firkus, Mateychuk. Anyone that watches the games can tell Yager has been kinda of "the third wheel". Which is fine for where we got him. But, his upside was at one point a top line player.

I just simply don't see that in his game. It's why I have no issue with the McGroarty trade because despite what Pens fans wants to say, McGroarty has a skill set that will be more valuable with the team or in a trade.

Yager is a Jared McCann type at best and nobody values that.

I mean specifically in the WJC tournament haha

Oh word. Yeah I just don't think Yager has much of that "it" factor to his game. He's got more than a little talent but is often just... kinda there.

On a totally-unrelated point it was nice to see Groats make a legit skill play that required some vision on one of his apples yesterday. More of that.

I agree, I don’t see any way the guy is a star at this point. McGroarty captained US to gold last year and was a big factor. Yager is C but he’s on the 4th line and not doing anything.

Looks like 2nd line right winger to me, if everything goes well. Or he reinvents himself as a defensive C and is like Sutter.

Schaefer got hurt, probably doesn’t knock him out of the top 4 though.

Hagens looks good, like Jack Hughes to me. Not a guy that can carry a whole team but certainly a guy that can provide a lot of offense.
Says a lot about him that he was the best player in the one game he played, and then after he got hurt Canada lost to Latvia. Lol.

Little concerning that Cruz Lucious may be out all year due to injury. Was really looking forward to watching some of his games this year.
