If the Avs had a 2C and Wennberg was to fill the 3C role... he'd be a great addition. Having Colton as the other middle 6 C and Wennberg as the guy to fill the 2C role... it is very bad.We could do worse for a bottom 6 centre as long as he's not the only addition.
Same!I’m hearing I’ll be disappointed come Friday. Sad if true.
If we acquire Wennberg I'm sure they envision him as the stop gap #2 centre solution. We could do worse for a bottom 6 centre as long as he's not the only addition.
You mean your TV isn't ready to take the shoe thrown at it when they pass up prime shooting opportunities for a low percentage pass...I’m not ready for Kerfoot or Wennberg
You just want to see it all burn down.
Another way to look at it is JJ plays 3x the amount with Byram than he does with Girard. JJ plays primarily with Manson and Bo. JJ’s our 6th D, therefore Bo, who is averaging the 3rd most ice time amongst our D will be partnered with others because our coach wants him out there more than a third pairing defenseman.Your post made it sound like he's primarily played with JMFJ... when he's been roughly 1/4 each Manson, Girard, JMFJ, and Toews/Makar. Another way to look at it is 3/4 of the time he's been paired with one of Manson, Girard, Makar or Toews.
Byram tends to crater numbers himself. He's bad with JMFJ certainly... he's also very bad with Toews. The guy Byram works the best is with Girard.
I vote immediately. Wennberg can hold pace a bit better than RyJo... but he'd be the same eighth to quarter measure. He's never been able to be a top 6C without Panarin. I'm sure he'd have good games with the Avs and we could cope our way to to being fine... but it is most certainly not fine.So if Wennberg goes to the Avs, do we throw up the "fire cMac" thread now? After the deadline? Or wait until after the round 1 loss?
I’m starting the think you want argue just to be obtuse. Of course Makar and Rantanen are not, and have not for the majority of the season, been playing to their best. Anyone that watches the games knows this stats be damned.
Boston, Vegas, and Edmonton are also looking for C help.I’m guessing us or Rangers.
I'm just stating facts too. He's played 196 of 906 with JMFJ. Yes that has an impact, but his 215+ with each of Girard and Manson are more than he's played with JMFJ.Another way to look at it is JJ plays 3x the amount with Byram than he does with Girard. JJ plays primarily with Manson and Bo. JJ’s our 6th D, therefore Bo, who is averaging the 3rd most ice time amongst will be partnered with others because our coach wants him out there more than a third pairing defenseman.
I’m not doing this again. I wasn’t trying to make it sound like anything. Just stating facts.
But what if Byram's career goes like Dumba's?
For all the prognostication that Byram is going to be elite, there is very little substance to show that is the case. Odds are much higher Byram ends up a flawed 2/3 (more of a 3) than he ends up a #1.
You are entitled to your opinion, physical numbers and eye test would suggest that Byram is having a tough year at best. Which is disappointing as expectations for him were high.Well I disagree about him playing poorly.
And I sure as hell am not trading a 22 year old Dman who has the potential to be a top pairing guy for a middle of the pack 2C like Mittlestadt.
That's a trade that is almost guaranteed to haunt us in the future.
Any player can have a hot streak. One streak should not equate to a whole career. He's been bad for 2 seasons.. and honestly very bad.We have seen what Byram can do. He was an absolute beast in our Cup run. We probably don’t win without him.
That said, will he ever be able to play to his full potential with Makar and Toews here?
I’m all for trading him but it better be for a better 2C than Mittlestadt.
This is perfection.
