Thanksgiving hangover, I don't put too much stock in this loss. And I wouldn't be surprised if we came out flat and had no legs tomorrow against the Caps...hope I am proven wrong though!

The same people here that wanted a rebuild are the ones whining about Andersson. You nailed it. He’s 20 years old.

20.

Some people have no patience.

I think the issue is that Chytil has always shown bits of brilliance. I haven’t seen something like that from Andersson. So, while it would be cynical to write him off (he is, as you say, just 20 years old), I’ve yet to see a play or a shift from him that leaves me thinking “wow.” Maybe I’m just being unrealistic or overly critical / harsh.

Lias Andersson should not be a concern for this team. He's basically following in Chytil's footsteps this year. Limited minutes on 4th line with bad linemates > great chances just not going in > ... He just needs a break, better linemates/ice time and more trust from above... like Chytil got.

And for all the people whining about taking the guy at #7 - it's not like he's Jessiman or McIlrath - the kid is an NHLer at 20. He's barely into double digits in terms of GP. He's going to be a great player. What is the point of comparing him to Pettersson or anybody else in the draft? He'll be worse than some players picked; better than most.

Two years down the line and he isn't clicking, then you worry. It took JT Miller the better part of three NHL seasons to find his feet. Kreider two at least. Kucherov's rookie numbers look pretty meh, but look at him now. Who know's what kind of player Lias ends up as... but it's beyond dumb to write him off 15 games into his NHL career.

Anderson has never been a flashy player, hes more of a Stepan with a grittier game. If people are waiting for him to dangle around he isnt going to. Hes gotta find his way in the NHL and he will but he needs time and we need to be patient. Quinn will bring him along.

This is one of those games a coach just says forget about it and make sure you come to play tomorrow.

I just want to see any pick of ours pan out. I doubt doubt Quinn’s ability to get the most out of Lias. I just hope Lias delivers — whether it be defensively, physically or offensively. I just want to get our moneys worth, if you will.

Edit: I couldn’t care less about being wrong or right. I just want our picks to succeed — while keeping expectations realistic. My expectations are decreasing with respect to Lias. I hope he proves me wrong.

Listen to the Spittin Chiclets podcast if you want candid stories of Jimmy Vesey falling asleep in a golf cart at Fishers Island
I worked for a company that works with Fisher Island. I had lunch with the GM years ago. Heard lots of stories of the very most rich and famous. David Schwimmer fell asleep on the ferry for hours in his car too. There is a story about Janet Jackson that still makes me laugh every time I think about it.

This is why you don’t tank, let the kids play, build from within, and start livin la vida loca before you whoomp there it is.

Lol, sure, let's not aquire high draft picks. Maybe the issue is GortonS staff?
I'm not ready to give on Lias yet.

I sure hope Gorton sticks to his guns.

Didn’t catch the game at all but got the feeling we didn’t come out and play a big game, true? If so, the McLeod element is in effect, Philly is tough to play against
This. And also Philly was playing desperation hockey. It happens. Hate to see it. But as they say “the other team is paid to do this, too”.

Yea that wouldnt be too surprising he didnt look 100% today
I would suspect so. It would be reassuring to hear the reason for Zucc’s poor play was lingering groin and he can come back strong soon. I’m looking forward to Gettinger too. He’s very interesting. I hope Fogarty stays up. He has been fine I think.

Anderson is not fast to begin with but is particularly slow with the puck. Multiple times he got the puck in open ice, stickhandled and slowed down then either dumped or lost the puck.

Sure he is a rookie, but this is not what you expect from a first round pick. I cannot imagine him as a 1st line C.. he does not hands, speed or strength to do so. Perhaps he has the hockey sense, passing and compete to be a 2 / 3 C but he is not what you hope a #7 pick will be.
